Eskimo Joe Thursday 24 October 2013 Doors Open 8.00pm Show Time 8.30pm Pre-sale $35+bf Standing Over 18’s Aud 2 On sale Tuesday 10 September 9am Eskimo Joe will hit the road this October and November in support of their new album Wastelands. The 11-date tour will see the band play all major capital cities, as well as some regional shows in Castlemaine, Newcastle and Bundaberg. The band’s sixth album, Wastleands, was crowd-funded to the tune of $60,000 via Pozible. It’ll be out through Dirt Diamonds Productions/Inertia on Friday, September 20. “We are all feeling really excited about finally getting this first song out there,” said the band. “It doesn’t sound like anything we’ve done before so we think people will be quite surprised by where we’ve headed. What the song is saying is when you’ve had a tough day don’t let all of that outside stuff get to you because when you get home and you’ve got the people you care about around you, that’s all you really need. The new record is the follow-up to 2011’s Ghosts Of The Past, which featured the singles ‘When We Were Kids’ and ‘Love Is A Drug’. It was recorded in the band’s own studio in Perth with producer Burke Reid of Gerling, who has previously worked with the likes of Holly Throsby, The Drones, The Mess Hall, Wolf and Cub, Oh Mercy and Liam Finn. “Bowing to the crowd and showing genuine appreciation, it’s clear that these school mates have come a long way. If the new tracks are indicative of what is to come, then 2013 is set to get even bigger for this charming threesome.” – ToneDeaf
