Pilcrow was formed in late 2015 by Alex Hnatiuk and Adam Blake. Current lineup also includes Matt Domeier (of Stray Sheep) on lead vocals and Patrick Cairns on drums. Their songs are very linear and often eschew repetition in favour of motifs and musical story-telling. Stylistically Pilcrow is heavily influence by the late 90's and early 2000's wave of screamo and post-hardcore ala Circle Takes the Square and City of Caterpillar, as well as experimental and math-rock acts. The only conviction Pilcrow wears is that music can (and often should) be actively consumed and engaged with, especially during a time where passivity seems to dominate the culture.
