The dark revelry of Hexenfest, a Festival of Magick, Music, and Dance will return to the Bay Area on April 26, 2014. The one-night only performance takes place at the Uptown Nightclub, 1928 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland. Doors open at 8:00 pm. Hexenfest was created by three Bay Area performers who create and celebrate magic and mystery in the arts. As widely traveled touring musicians, Sharon Knight and Winter found this burgeoning genre to be thriving elsewhere, but not at home. Together with their friend Anaar, a tribal bellydancer, fashion designer, and artist, they sought to create a San Francisco Bay Area festival that caters to the mythic imagination in a way that appeals to adults and builds community within the vibrant Bay Area Pagan community and beyond. Now in its third year, Hexenfest has begun to make its mark on the area’s music and arts scene, bringing over twenty local musicians, dancers, and other artists to the stage. The 2014 lineup features new guest artists as well as returning acts, increased production values, and an uncanny spark that is unique to this fusion of performance and mysticism. This year’s headlining act is the Ego Likeness, who combines dark electronic/ dance music with heavy rock and striking poetry. This East Coast band will share the stage with local favorite Pandemonaeon, one of the festival’s founding acts, who will return with their gothic tribal folk metal sound. Gothic/ Steampunk bellydancer Tempest and multi-intstrumentalist Nathaniel Johnstone will cast their spell on the crowd, as will San Francisco-based cellist-singer-songwriter Unwoman. The evening also features a fashion show by Tombo Studios, as well as tribal belly dancer Anaar, ecstatic devotional dancer Morpheus Ravenna, and goth/ industrial DJ Daniel Skellington. Advance tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/515567 or by visiting www.hexenfest.net. Tickets can also be purchased at the Uptown Nightclub the evening of the show for $25.

Bio: Hi, we're Pandemonaeon, & we describe ourselves as Gothic Tribal Folk Metal. Our sound ranges from the hard-hitting, epic, & rocking to darkly haunting & beautiful. We've got crunchy guitars, weeping violins, pounding drums, & powerful & haunting vocals. Kind of a beauty & the beast thing.

"Pandemonaeon finally returns this month with their [third] album 'Dangerous Beauty', sporting a more assured, powerful, and at times metal-tinged sound. It marks not so much a come-back for the band as it does a whole new beginning. Not only is 'Dangerous Beauty' a great 'Pagan' album, it’s a great album period."
