Good, Quality, Consistent Music

This is one of the main ingredients to attracting fans/listeners to you as an artist. We can make every excuse in the world about why we are not excellent, but we should strive to have the very best product possible, because believe it or not, our excellence is a reflection of how other people see Jesus through us for the first time.

Go find me a message that Jesus preached that was confusing, raggedy grammatically, and just a bad representation of who he was. Find that message by Chapter and Verses and post it here so we can have a discussion on The Lord's subpar message.

1.Perfect you craft. Practice, study.

2. Find a producer that "owns" all of his equipment and link up and become a team. Build a relationship and work together. (Every producer is not that busy.)

3.Make sure that producer has your sound and he or she can also produce quality music and if possible, they should have "post-production" skills to minimize your cost to output a quality product. (It may be hard to find, but they are out there.)

4. If you have a solid foundation and some followers who love what you're doing but you don't have quality music, then find a producer that can afford to front you music and you guys split everything 50/50. Sales, publishing etc. That's a simple concept that makes everybody happy.

Do I Need a Record Label?

This is a big issue and/or controversy in the arena of music, in the independent music world. My answer is not a blanket answer for every artist or producer, but it is aimed at the person that wants to get rolling without static.

You "don't need" a Record Label. The digital age has changed the rules of business in this industry. You can create, record, and package your product from your bedroom and release it worldwide from your bedroom via your computer with a very fast internet connection. I have friends that make $60k+ a month from selling their music online (from their home studio), so their is plenty of opportunity.

When you or if you sign to a label, you should have your "own" music machine built and on track turning profits for yourself with very little overhead. If you have this going in, you can negotiate more of the pie that is being created by you and you can just use the bigger machine to be distributed faster and at extreme volumes to "your fanbase" that you have already created, cultivated and is controlling to the path you set.
