CSIC Series

Composers & Schools in Concert has partnered with Sheet Music Plus to have a "CSIC Series" of music for high school ensembles. This catalog will be promoted to music educators worldwide as part of Sheet Music Plus' back-to-school sales. Happily, I was invited to have Salt Marsh Rag included in the CSIC Series catalog and back-to-school promotion. Sheet Music Plus will put the CSIC Series on sale and in front of teachers looking for new material for their school music programs. I hope th [.....

Directional Music

Directional Music, a music licensing company based in NYC, selected 17 of my recordings for their production music catalog. This is an exciting step toward having my music used in film, TV, video, and other media. I will update my music licensing page to have information about Directional Music when the recordings have been added to their website. [...]

Romney, WV Video

Robert Peak's videos are nothing short of stunning. In creating this aerial video of Romney, WV he used the second part of my Appalachian Awakening.  It starts at 2:36. The first track is from a stock music service that he uses (no composer credit is available).   Here are links to Robert's website and Facebook page:http://www.robert-peak.com/https://www.facebook.com/RobertPeakDesign [...]

Zudo Music

I officially joined Zudo Music! I have been looking for a music licensing company that is a good match for my music. In particular, I have envisioned a smaller or "boutique" company where my work will be appreciated for its quirkiness and stylistic range. In talking with J. Galenti and hearing his vision, it seems to me that we have a match. Zudo's non-exclusive agreement is straight-forward and the prices for their 12 types of music licenses -- from a wedding video up to a s [...]

Music Download Change

I decided to no longer sell music downloads at Bandcamp and Reverbnation. The links to my recordings at Bankcamp have been removed from my Store page. This is due to having a concern that people could buy inexpensive MP3 downloads and use them in unauthorized ways. With that in mind, I will focus on music licensing as a way to help fund new recording projects. [...]

Seeking Music Placements

One of my goals for this year is to focus more on music licensing. Composing for film or TV does not interest me. However, several composer friends told me how my originals could do well as placement music in film, TV, theater, etc. That inspired me to explore this new direction. If some of my tracks can receive placements, the money will help to fund new recordings of my music and enable it to be heard. See the Music Licensing page on my website for details. Site Improvements For Smartphones

Thanks to Weebly, my website should work on any desktop or mobile device. That said, until recently all of the work that I have done on my site has been in desktop edit mode. For the past couple of days I have looked at each page of my site in mobile edit mode. I discovered that minor changes were needed in the formatting of several pages. I also discovered that embedded code for Vimeo video players, which I had been using, was problematic for mobile. So, I went back to using the Weebly bui...

The Sailmaker's Cat

The Sailmaker's Cat has been added to my website. It is an older fiddle tune that I recently found in my music files. I remembered that I liked this tune and decided to dust it off. Fiddle players (and other musicians) are welcome to give it a try. [...]
