I, Misanthrope / Blog

Mentalfuct Experiment1

This is not an official track but a sample of what will be on "Heartache and the Loss of God". I've been experimenting a lot with noise music lately, particularly using a combination of my laptop studio and two apps on my phone--Caustic and Smart Voice Recorder. The reason I use Smart Voice Recorder is to record my rants, which are usually done while I'm driving or somewhere alone away from my studio. I consider this a form of therapy, especially when all the meds in the world can't help me. Everything here is genuine--nothing is fabricated. And I'm using these for nightmarish soundscapes. Enjoy the pain.

The Screaming in my Head

This is a project I am starting up as I need an outlet for the most absurd music I can create. The I, Misanthrope project is just too serious for that. So far, the best stuff to come to mind is Anal Cunt meets Sore Throat meets Merzbow meets Wesley Willis meets old-school hardcore. So far, I am thinking some of the grindcore song titles we rejected when I was in Puke are some titles I will use. It may or may not be original or good--don't know yet. But I'm planning on this being more improvisational and spastic. Being right and politically correct all the time can make someone insane, so here's my "GO FUCK YOURSELF IN THE ASSHOLE WITH A HACKSAW" to the world :)

5 demo songs posted

I have 5 demo songs posted. Nothing final--just guitar and drum demos (synths on one of them) to give you an idea of what I've been working on. Got a long way to go--21 songs total. Last year, I wrote the only the lyrics since I was suffering from some deep depression and had no drive to play music, but since I've recorded, mixed, and mastered Catastrofear's and Ritual Possession's EPs, the music is coming to me now. Also, I have revisited the first CD since I haven't heard it in a while, and I definitely look forward to capturing a similar dark atmosphere on this one. Just this one is a bit more realistically dark. The best way to describe this stuff before you hear it--doom/sludge, slightly industrial, post-metal. Enjoy, and hope to have more up on here soon.

Update--it's about time.

I'm still working on the "Heartache and the Loss of God" project. It is a really big project, so there is a lot of composition that is still underway. I have also been recording and producing other bands. Local Chattanooga/North GA thrash titans CATASTROFEAR have just released a 4-song EP on their Bandcamp Page--https://catastrofear.bandcamp.com/ Tom Shirley and Billy Lynn are like family to me, and I had the pleasure of recording and producing the EP. Despite things that happened in my personal life that caused the production to delay, it is finally done--be sure to check it out :) Also, I am in the process of recording tracks for the Chattanooga black metal band Ritual Possession. Featuring guitarist Caezar Lazo from Cranial Impalement and numerous USBM bands/projects on drums, he hopes to put USBM back on the map as a reputable underground force to be reckoned with! He and Nick Evans are really awesome guys! Very good stuff so far, and I can't wait to see where it is headed! I know--not a lot to say about "Heartache" yet, but there is more to come--it is coming together slowly but surely. Definitely hope it will be worth the wait.
