duaneband returns!!!

For anyone who happens to be interested, here’s the true duaneband update, from a somewhat philosophical viewpoint. For those who know me, it probably won’t come as a surprise.

So, the duaneband hasn’t performed in a while, and folks often ask why. Well, there’s actually a pretty specific reason. The simple fact is, I find that I am most comfortable and at my best in service to others. It’s just how I’m wired. I have a very difficult time serving my own self-interest. It’s an ongoing battle. This is why my primary responsibility is to Jeff Scott, and to other songwriters including Jim Asbell and Sharon Tse. I’m very proud of the playing, writing and producing I’ve been involved with on their projects (please check them out!!). It’s truly rewarding. It’s also why I play and sing with local bands like the Soulkrackers, Kris Kurzawa’s Rush, Dr. Swift and Vinyl Underground. I keep busy for sure, wherever and whenever I’m needed.

However, for long periods of time, the duaneband sits on a shelf waiting for the appropriate time, a suitable location and a perhaps surge of energy to get back out and try to serve myself for just a moment. Scary endeavor…

All this to say that duaneband will be back out soon! New stuff to share and new fun to be had! I really hope to see you all!!!

2016 DMA's

Well, the 2016 DMA's are behind us now. I really enjoyed being nominated this year. Of the 5 or so categories in which I was up for award, I did not take home any hardware, but I was excited to be within such great company, and really liked the work of the folks who did win. Time to start working on new stuff for the next chapter...

The Coach

Had an awesome time at the Coach Saturday night. So thankful to see so many friends and family come out and hang, eat, drink and just enjoy the evening together with some fun songs...

Songwriting

It never ceased to amaze me how the craft of songwriting has its place in every aspect of life. To tell a story wholely and completely in a fixed length of prose or poetry inclusive of rhyme and meter...
