Well, we are in knee deep in Tribute rehearsals. In case you were wondering, Tribute is the trio I am a part of with Kathy Donnelly and Nina Swanson. We specialize in Christmas music and have two CDs out: Silent Night and Simple Gifts (Best sellers at our areas Barnes & Noble) This year performances are at Theatre Cedar Rapids as our previous venue, CSPS, undergoes extensive renovation due to an I-Jobs grant they received. Theatre Cedar Rapids, at 102 Third Street SE, Cedar Rapids, IA seats about 550 and at this point we are nearly sold out! Shows are on Tuesday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 22 at 7:30pm. We generally rehearse at my house, which means I need to keep plenty of food on hand, brownies, crackers, cheese, etc to keep Nina and Kath happy. They are worse than a couple teenagers! Seriously, we are so thankful for our faithful fans! Unbelievable!
Was able to attend Lamb's Retreat for Songwriters in Harbor Springs, MI last month. Great time. Met some very cool songwriters who really know their stuff...Don Henry, co-writer of "Where've You Been" (won Kathy Mattea a grammy in 1990) for one. It's great to hear the songwriters version of a hit song. Groovitated, my friends. (Yes, that is a made up word. You can use it.) Other favorites at the retreat were Sally Barris (similar to Allison Krauss) and Jeff Scott with his creamy, smooth vocals. Check them out. In the meantime, get busy on those Christmas cookies!
