I recently traveled to Italy for a premiere of "Notte dei Cristalli" in Padova. As I traveled I recorded some images that focused on one or two themes. I share my images with architect Gregory Splinter. He then create some very interesting intuitive designs that in turn inspired some digital sound creativity on my part. Where is this all headed? When does a composition provide too many constraints and inhibit a spontaneous performance? What’s the minimal amount of composed music that’s required to still hold together as a “composition?” Obviously, there are no clear, precise answers to these questions.
