StankBot Tyranny / Blog

Where did the name StankBot Tyranny come from?

Well, we like to make each other laugh. So when we were talking about crazy names for a band we started on a tangent about aliens from outer-space. As we bantered back and forth, Nick grabbed a piece of paper and drew a stinky robot, StankBot was born. Our producer claimed that band names need to have 2 words that have nothing to do with each other, he recommended 'Tyranny'. Mostly the name comes from a lot of bs'ing and joking around. It's nice that every time someone says the name of our band they can't help but smile.

New Bio

Check out our new bio. Kate the Boss just finished writing it after considering and contemplating for much too long. She's incredibly proud of herself. Read it and show her some love!

Learning the ropes

We recorded our first song all by our onesie, Ben - acoustic guitar and I Can Tell, by Jack White. The next goal is to record with 6 tracks instead of just 2. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Recording Fake and the Beautiful

Wow! What a difference a knowledgeable crew of sound engineers makes. Props to Renzo Miera, who did all of the mixing, and Yonatan Barajas and Alecia Ceharuzabeitia, of Spy Hop Productions, for their amazing work yesterday. Who knew that you could record a song in an hour and come away with something that sounds completely awesome! SBT is hoping to collaborate with them again and make some magic happen.

Spy Hop

SBT went to Spy Hop Productions yesterday to record 3 songs. We'll have to do it again, the guitar amp they had available had awful tone and the vocal levels were all out of whack, but it was FREE and it was a great chance to learn about the process.
