My record company, (Kennis Music) has been like a home away from home for me, since I got signed on earlier this year. The CEO, Mr Kenny Ogungbe, has been a leader like none other and I learn from him everyday... King Shaka!!!!! My main man... Always there for me! I remember when I nearly passed out from fatigue the other day in ijebu, he held on to me before I hit the ground, even damaging his phone in the process.. During the making of my album, he was always there; with valuable advice, a good listening ear, lol! King Shaka, I thank you.. .Mr Ndidi, Mr Abass, You guys are the coolest managers ever.. Thank you for making me feel really welcome in your establishment, God bless you. Joe-el!!!! You’re my best friend in the whole world, my angel, and I am where I am today primarily because of you, and God. Thank-you... #sighs... It’s real hard work when you’re typing for hours nonstop. You forget stuff, especially when you’re typing off head; and you really can’t be bothered to check for grammatical errors and stuff like that... So for all of you who can see typo’s and grammatical errors, I’m sorry. :-P Happy new yeaurrrr!!!xxx

As an artiste, you really cannot put a figure on the amount of folks you have to thank on a day to day basis because you don't know them all...For me, even someone turning on their ipod and listening to any of my tracks is a huge deal and I'm grateful to God, every second of everyday for his favour... For the support of my wonderful and ever supportive "Gold Nuggets" that make everything I do worthwhile, I thank you... For my family, my mum, my dad, my siblings, grandparents, my aunties, who constantly put up with me, lol...and my lack of communication, I thank you.. I thank you, God bless you...

Nigeria at 50

My name is Goldie Harvey and I'm proudly Nigerian. Today, Nigeria is celebrating 50 years of independence from our British Colonial masters. It’s definitely a special day... 50 don’t come twice. ;) I used to ask myself if being Nigerian was a mindset; "who you are” or a case of nationality, meaning “where you were born”? And I’ve never really been able to answer that question. What I do know is this. As a people, we’re resilient... we’re hardworking... we’re driven; not only to better our lot in life, but to make the best of any situation we find ourselves. We are happy people. As a Nation, we’re peace loving which in most cases is a good thing... On the flip side, we can be very selfish as individuals, thinking only of ourselves; we can also be very corrupt; going to any lengths to make a buck. Going as far as cheating the very system we blame for our plight and making stuff worse in the process. We blame the government, the rulers, and the judicial system for the current state of things; all the while forgetting that it is WE who make up the government, it is WE who make up the rulers, it is WE who make up the judicial system. We might not be there physically, but our mindset is still what prevails in these sectors. It’s beginning to sound Jaded, but if WE WANT CHANGE, IT HAS TO START FROM US! We ourselves have to be the change we seek. We mirror ourselves; our reflection never lies. So... Like the late Pop legend Michael Jackson, I’ll urge us all to start with the “man or woman in the mirror”. Ask him/her to change their ways; and we’ll begin to see how much a role WE each have to play in the general state of things. In the interim though, we have a lot to celebrate. We do not suffer from natural disasters like hurricanes, tsunamis or earthquakes; we are not at war like other countries in the world. e.g. Israel, Afghanistan, and more recently Korea. We are not under communist rule like Russia neither are we starving like Sudan. So yeah... while there is a lot not quite right with us as a nation YET, we still have a lot more reason to celebrate than not. Let’s be proud of what we have and strive to make it better instead of lamenting about what we haven’t got. The countries we look up to, e.g America, UK, China, are all decades older than us and have had years of trial and error to “TRY” and perfect themselves. (I say try, because they still aren’t there yet.) Maybe they will never get there. Who knows..? But they are proud of their countries, and we should be too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIGERIA, MAY YOU LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!!! My name is Goldie and I am proudly Nigerian...xoxo
