Peace & love,
Hey folks, It gives me great pleasure to announce the exclusive release of our brand new live DVD, filmed by Miles Harris at the stunning St George’s, Brighton back in February 2015 with my band of brothers, Danny Keane, Sam Martin and Jon Thorne. Our first ever live DVD is being released via PledgeMusic alongside a host of other goodies available only to pledgers – posters and handwritten setlists signed by the band, new t-shirts and the opportunity to have your name included on the DVD credits. This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for me and my band and we can’t wait for you to be involved in it with us. Your continued support over the years is what has enabled me to get this far. Head on over to my Pledge page for more info and to see what’s on offer: http://pmusic.co/lW64Ow Big love, Scott x
Hi folks, Welcome to my first newsletter of 2015. Hope this message finds you well and I hope you’re all finding little ways to thaw out at the moment, whether that be by the coal fire, log burner, car heater, the back of a guitar tube amp, the warmth of someone else’s body or by the sonic warmth of some fine music. For me though, dual cardigans are the only way to survive right now as I sit here in my ‘shedio’ attempting to write something interesting. The new year has seen me rediscover my record collection all over again thanks to a little moment of self-indulgence over Christmas! I purchased a rather cool turntable along with a handful of vinyl re-masters including The Beatles, Nick drake (Pink Moon has never sounded so good), Radiohead’s In Rainbows, Cocteau Twins, Elliott Smith etc, etc. It’s made me realise that the vinyl format is still the absolute top dog in a world where we’re so used to listening to the mp3 format. Encouragingly too, news that vinyl sales were up last year by 49% makes for a beautifully refreshing statistic to start the year on, I’m sure you’ll agree. It’s been a personal highlight pressing my new album on vinyl for the first time too. This month I’ll be continuing my journey with Home Part 1, joined by my trusted fellows. I’m excited to announce a run of UK shows in February starting with Ramsgate Music Hall on the 20th accompanied by the wonderful Danny Keane on cello and piano. I’m also thrilled to welcome Jon Thorne (bass player with Lamb) into the fold on double bass in Manchester, Bristol, London and Brighton as well as me old mate and fine drummer/percussionist to boot, Sam Martin. It’s sure to be a real highlight so early into the new year. Hope you can join us! See ticket links below if you fancy it: 20th February – Ramsgate Music Hall http://www.wegottickets.com/event/304411 22nd February – St George’s, Bristol http://www.stgeorgesbristol.co.uk/choose-seats/?WebInstanceID=SGB600 23rd February – Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester http://tickets.rncm.ac.uk/single/selectSeating.aspx?p=9611 26th February – Cadogan Hall, London https://secure.cadoganhall.com/event/scott-matthews-150226/book/?performance=1133 27th February – St George’s Church, Brighton http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F004D31E7ACB9F3?camefrom=CFC_UK_BUYAT_97249 Doubly excited to announce the second single, Mona, from the album Home Part 1 which will be available digitally on the 16th February. Hopefully you’ll catch it on the airwaves over the next couple of months. It’s already enjoyed some airplay from the likes of Janice Long, Lauren Laverne, Chris Hawkins and Simon Raymonde.
