Looking back, 2011 has been a wonderful year. I got to perform on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (a dream come true), released my 3rd CD, started working with my manager Cindy Da Silva, had a blast shooting a music video with a Saturday Night Live producer, followed by a video launch party at the Gibson Showroom, opened an amazing sold out show for Joan Osborne in NYC, got nominated for a Blues Blast Music Award, and wrote & released a Christmas song I'm extremely proud of. In between all this I traveled, toured, met lovely new people, had wonderful adventures & made great memories with family & friends. I'm very lucky & 2012 is sure to bring good things (including age 27 & a new CD in the spring!!) Happy holidays & best wishes for the new year!!
Been getting lots of love from Philly!! Thank you to the Sellersville Theater for always having me (I'm coming back next year!), to Nick Cristiano from the Philadelphia Inquirer for my putting my CD on his top 10 list for 2011 and to WXPN for spinning my Christmas single "Shine Down On Us", and thanks to my friends from the area who are always so supportive. I don't perform in the city enough but I'm going to change that in 2012!!
Hey everybody, As you probably know, I love to sing and have fun, and now I want YOU to get in on the action and show me what you've got! You see, I'm holding a little contest. I've got a song called "Addicted", that frankly, I'm hooked on singing. Now it's YOUR turn to get addicted and sing this song to ME in your best and most creative way possible! And don't think your efforts will go unrewarded! We've got prizes! -1st runner up gets an autographed copy of all 3 of my CDs (Allow Me To Confess, Hey Sugar, & Can't Control Myself) as well as an autographed poster! -Grand Prize…are you ready? You not only get to go out for dinner with me and the band, but you get to make a cameo appearance in my next music video!! Sound good?!? So get singing!! But before you do that here's a short list of rules: 1) You must film yourself performing "Addicted" in its entirety. Sing it (or rap) a cappella or accompanied by an instrument, but either way there must be singing going on!! (and no lip-syncing to the track!!) 2) All the lyrics to the song must be correct. No changes. You can learn the lyrics here: http://ginasicilia.com/fr_lyrics 3) Once complete, upload your video to YouTube and make it a video response on my "Addicted" video page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZGPDSgbRso 4) You will have 10 days to do this. The contest will run from tonight, Tuesday, September 13th to 12AM PT on Friday, September 23rd. Winners will be announced at 3PM ET on September 25th. 5) Don't be shy!!! Channel your inner Aretha Franklin or James Brown and belt it out with style and soul. I know you've got it in you. So show me how creative and talented I know you really are! Can't wait to see what you come up with! xo Gina
I got this crazy good review from a UK publication. I want to tour in the UK!!!
Can’t Control Myself-Gina Sicilia Vizztone SNCD 388011 2011 OK, let’s make it quick. This is a 10 snaves disk from note 1. I really, really dig what Gina has poured on this little silver disk. Gina has captured the cool dark funk soul grooves and early rock R&B flavor in the same frame as Amy Winehouse (RIP) but with significantly larger soul and heart. The earthy honk of baritone saxes, the steamy Latin beats and sensual harmonies along with Gina’s breathy and torrid pipes makes this whole CD an aural treat and create a fine foot tapper. Since the prod and multitrack is backed by Dave Gross, the musicality is pure and fine and 7/10 cuts are originals written with heat, taste and surefooted expressiveness while the covers of Willie Dixon’s “Crazy ‘Bout You Baby” and Bobby Blue Bland are sublime and delivered with appropriate finesse and artistic interpretation. The opener “Addicted” honks and soars on wings of despair while shuffling dark and dirty drama. “Members Only” is a slow soul drive through heartbreak while “The Night Is Through” echoes the Latin tinged rhythms of The Drifters’ “Under the Boardwalk.” Stevie Wonder’s “A Place In the Sun” is given a minimalist elegance while “Can’t Control Myself” has Susan Tedeschi’s throaty alto and the tick tock 2-4 beat of a heart in love. “Wish the Clock Would Stop” has an early 60s Nancy Sinatra flavor. “Gimme A Simple Song” swings soul R&B and the spooler is a tasty slow soul burner asking if “once in a while will you love me the way I love you.” Not anything less than excellence end to end and a really moving, truly fine release from the Philly lady Gina Sicilia. 10 snaves
Hey everybody!! I'm very excited to show you my latest project. Here is my new music video for my song "Addicted", directed by Saturday Night Live's Tanya Ryno. This video was a BLAST to make. We had so much fun filming over 4th of July weekend in NYC, even though it was 95 degrees and humid! It was such a wonderful experience. I recently had a music video release party in NYC's Gibson Showroom for a small group of people, but am thrilled to share the video with you all now. So, without further adieu, here it is!! Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it!! xoxo
So excited! About.com named my record "Can't Control Myself" one of the top ten blues albums of the year (so far). Thanks Reverend Keith A. Gordon! I'm humbled to be listed alongside these legends.
Please tell your friends about me.

VizzTone Records and da Silva Artists are very proud to release GINA SICILIA‘s new CD, Can’t Control Myself. Her 1st single “Addicted” is delivered with an attitude that’s part May West, part Bonnie Raitt, but with a distinctive touch that’s all Gina Sicilia. She’s a modern day, all-American girl with a bold and sassy edge. As a vocalist, she’s fearless and uninhibited. As a songwriter, she’s not afraid to be honest, a quality that’s been growing her fan base with each record she makes.
Young Philadelphia songstress Gina Sicilia exploded onto the scene in 2007, as her debut CD, Allow Me to Confess, was met with acclaim by fans and critics alike. She was heralded as a distinctive new voice in the Blues, as well as an insightful songwriter and interpreter of neglected classics in the Rhythm & Blues canon. In 2008 she was nominated for “Best New Artist Debut” at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee, just as her sophomore release Hey Sugar proved her also to be a legitimate contender in the worlds of Classic Country and Americana.
With her new 2011 release, Can’t Control Myself, Gina broadens her stylistic palette, infusing even more Soul and Americana into her bedrock influences of Blues and R&B. This CD features seven new Gina Sicilia compositions, as well as three choice covers borrowed from Bobby Bland, Stevie Wonder, and Ike & Tina Turner. Gina’s singing and songwriting continue to break new ground, showing remarkable depth, power, and seemingly unstoppable growth. Can’t Control Myself was produced and engineered by Gina’s label mate, the insanely talented Dave Gross, who also played every instrumental track on the record except for trumpet, sax, and one lap-steel track.
Here’s what early supporters are saying about Gina:
"Sicilia delivers a vocal and lyrical performance that rates alongside the titans of early-1960s soul." -About.com "Not since Susan Tedeschi has a young female blues singer made such a strong impression...remarkable voice" Blues Revue Magazine
"Gina Sicilia may be the best blues singer on the music scene today" -JazzReview
"Gina Sicilia's voice posessess such depth and breadth that she may indeed one day be mentioned alongside the giants in the blues idiom." -Music City Blues
"...Dramatically different from any of her peers. Her voice is robust and earthy...Gina Sicilia has star potential." -Blues Wax
Now 26 years old, the genre-defying Gina Sicilia continues to smash pigeonholes into kindling and redefine the boundaries of soulful music. “Can’t Control Myself” debuted at #11 on the International Living Blues Radio Chart, and is currently being added to Americana and AAA stations across the country. Gina will be touring all summer in support of her release. She’s performing across the US and Canada playing clubs and festivals. Highlights include Carolina Blues Festival, Waterfront Blues Festival, North Atlantic Blues Festival, Chenago Blues Festival and B-Town Blues Festival. Please check her website for tour dates.

Hey everyone, Coming to you from Fat Rabbit studios, where I'm recording my 4th album with young, hot producer Dave Gross.
This is going to be a soul album, and unlike anything I've ever done in terms of the way I'm singing and he songs I'm written and selected.
This album will be released this summer. I'm VERY excited about it.
With that said, time to go for now, but I'll be back to keep you updated on the progress of this album.
