Kerron Cowan aka 9yne born Oct. 3rd, 1986 to a single parent home in St. Louis, MO. Growing up with his Mother and 3 sisters he was always an artistic child, drawing was his 1st passion but he was always a creative story teller. At the age of 6 he met the man who would eventually introduce him to music and change his life forever. This mans name... Judge Christopher Day IV. He practically raised 9yne and molded him into the man he is today. At the age of 7 he introduced 9yne to the biggest names on the east coast music scene, why the east? He was from New York of course, but 9yne's favorite rapper was 2 Pac. At the age of 9, he wrote his 1st rap, he never told a soul he was even writing or rapping, the inspiration for the out burst is the weekends he spent at the barbershop with his Dad, Uncles and cousins, they were always at it, ciphers all the time and he always knew he could do what they did but was too afraid to jump in not knowing how they would accept him. 1 day at the barbershop they were all in the back in a huge cipher and he just jumped in and after a while he looked as if he zoned out and they were all cheering for more as he finished. From that moment on he started jumped in every cipher and eventually became very popular for it at every school he attended. "King of the Lunch Battles" and the name K9yne he held that until he graduated in January 2004. Later that summer he had his 1st official battle against Young Scar, he demolished his in 2 rounds, although there was supposed to be a cash prize, he was cheated and only given a Luke DVD. From there he and 2 close friends formed a group SME(street music ent) they made songs for high schools and performed for the youth. This generated an extreme buzz but ego's destroyed the group, and each member took separate paths. Around the same time his father went to Prison, K9yne joined a old friend from School, he partnered with there label Gunline Entertainment. That group was amazing, so many different artist and styles, they ran the city and he tool them to new heights until he started gaining too much exposure as a solo artist. He had a meeting with 2 reps from Universal Records in 2005 and he was viciously assaulted by group members in a set up because they thought if 9yne got signed he would not bring them along. After a stint of not doing music he was rejuvenated by a family member who was also deep into the business and welcomed him with open arms to the Super group UTG. This is also when he dropped the K on his name to signify a fresh start. This lasted for a year before 9yne quit to pursue a solo career because he was fed up with being tied to a group. 2008, 9yne was introduced to Steve Blast, a world renown record producer who gave 9yne the template for success and is responsible for all recording leading to the debut album from him entitled "The 9yne Effects". From group to group, city to city the artist you know as 9yne has performed on the biggest stages, has released 3 mixtapes and his 1st album. He is a well known producer and songwriter. He is only getting better with time and is a talent no label or artist in the world can look past. With the work ethic instilled in this 23yr old native of St. Louis, mixed with the knowledge of the business and the willingness to learn, he is a force to be reckoned with and well on his way to being the best artist, yes you heard it right, not the best rapper, the best artist in the world.
