Well, we have had a break of five months since our last gig, so it was great to be back at our "second home" venue for the comeback gig! If we were missing Lizzie (who is sunning herself in LA) we soon put that behind us and a good time was had by all of us. Thanks to all who came and made it so much fun.
Now... let's get that new material we've been working on ready for recording....
Really good fun at Jagz last night. Thanks to all who came, danced and looked silly for us. Fancy dress award goes to Sally, for a very impressive interpretation of someone who has broken an ankle and has a leg in plaster :)
Dead chuffed to be back at UK Number One on the Reverbnation Jazz chart. Must be doing something right!
Woop! Gary Crowley obviously likes us a bit as he has played yet another track from the album on his Saturday show on BBC London.. This time, he played Berlin Babylon. Next...Radio 2 would be good...and maybe Jazz FM... Onwards and upwards.... ;)
Yes, we've been a bit quiet recently. Al's been busy with motorsport stuff, doing some pit lane interviews for Eurosport, and Nero's been sunning himself in Turkey. So, apart from a few gigs there doesn't seem to have been much going on - but we are pleased to report there is more new material on the way and being recorded, including new song "That'll Do Nicely"... more details (and maybe a sneak preview) soon!
Sorry for the recent lack of regular updates but Nero's currently in Turkey... but coming soon: .... a blog from Nero on the Turkish adventure,.. meanwhile, Al is busy booking Sunflowers gigs for the summer... more news soon :)
In a bid to retain her image as the ultimate party animal, Alexandra Legouix - singer/actress/presenter and star of the video "Lola", which has received over 1.5 million YouTube hits in two months since release - today denied reports that she is, in fact, a domestic goddess in real life.
The report, on a well-known social networking site, suggests that despite her hellraising reputation, Ms Legouix is "quite the little housewife" on the quiet - cooking, cleaning, washing and even ironing with all the zeal and dedication of a 1950's "little woman". But she vehemently denies the accusations.
"Someone is clearly trying to tarnish my image" she said of the rumours. "Yes, I admit I may have spent an hour or two cleaning - and made the mistake of putting some photos of one or two culinary triumphs on Facebook - but that hardly means that I am about to throw away years of training as a hard-drinking, party-loving socialite... does it?" she said.
Friends and colleagues closed ranks behind the star today. One source, a friend who wished to remain anonymous but we understand is a member of her band "The Sunflowers" said: "Al? Domesticated? That's preposterous... the very idea is absurd... it's just a slanderous, malicious rumour".
Asked whether she intended to sue the rumour-mongers, Alexandra replied "Shhh... I'm having palpitations."
Alexandra's boyfriend, Bryn Lucas - also a star of the video - was "unavailable for comment" today.
We've just heard from Brad Watson (director extraordinaire) that the first preview of the video should be ready by the weekend.... can't wait!!
So, the extras didn't show because of bad traffic. But Al didn't let that deter her... no sir! Out she goes into the street, wearing nothing but her corset, hot pants and a cheeky smile... and a few seconds later she is back in the club, with three very bewildered young guys in tow. Extras in place , we could carry on with the filming.... good girl! Only Al could get away with it... ;)
Final preparations underway for the video shoot of Lola on Wednesday! The amazing director Brad Watson has come up with a fabulous treatment and we are really excited to be working with him.. can't wait to get going with it!
