review from the Blowout

Start off with reggae, add a little bit of ska, and throw in a little calypso, along with a little soul and a little rock. Mix this recipe together, bake in a crowd of huge fans and viola you have 1592. Catching 1592 at this years blow out was a welcomed relief to all the punk and hard rock bands playing Friday night. Their groove was smooth, mellow and easy as well as dealing very well with the old school ska they know so well. 1592 is a collection of musicians who have played several different musical styles. But they have done an excellent job of blending their backgrounds to create a seemingly pure Caribbean sound on the surface but one that is very much Detroit and one that reflects the bands other influences. You have to hear it feel it. But it is well worth the journey. -Doug Mobley Video also courtesy of Doug Mobley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id4j_mIx8EA
