don't be haten.

Dear Justin Beiber haters. I owe my life to Justin. On March 9th, 2009 I was in a coma for six months after a terrible car crash. One day the nurse turned the radio to one of Justin's songs and amazingly, I got up and turned the radio off.

Who is it about? Is it all about you? How do your friends feel when they know that it’s all about you? How can you be a good friend when it’s all about you? How can you give to others when it’s all about you? Can you effectively receive love when it’s all about you? Can you effectively give love when it’s all about you? Can you be a good employee or employer when it’s all about you? Can you even be an effective person when it’s all about you? Is it all about you? When God loves- and He does- it isn’t all about Him. When He sent His Son to die a horrible death for us, it wasn’t all about Him. It has never been all about Him. It’s about His love and grace in our lives- nothing more, nothing less, no matter what we think- and even when it’s all about us. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?

Dogma, rhetoric, and legalism will pick you clean. They’re like vultures, lurching overhead until you die- of spiritual neglect. People- even (especially?) some “church people”- can be like one of those buzzards, condemning and judging you, when you really need to be raised to new life. Right Bible teaching (not just eloquence), encouraging words and love bring new life, and keep it going and growing. They’re like a mother eagle bringing food to her young until they’re strong enough to fly on their own- until their strong enough to chase the vultures away. Real followers of Jesus want to be that mother eagle to you. They want you to be all you can be, and help you live your life within the guidelines of God’s Word. Live for God, and don’t let anyone give you any crap about it. Don’t let people mess it up for you- judgers, condemners, your friends- anyone. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. Have you ever blamed God for the situation you’re in or you’re lot in life? Is it really His fault? Let’s look at it from a different point of view for a minute. Let’s say that God is a humongous umbrella. When you’re under it, there is protection from the rain (the crap of life). You know what happens when you walk out from under it- you get soaked. Is it God’s fault you walked out from the protection of the umbrella? Don’t blame Him. He was there- with His umbrella- all the time. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. I made all the delicate, inner parts of your body and knit you together in your mother’s womb. I made you so wonderfully complex, though I used just a simple protein molecule to hold you all together. My workmanship is marvelous! I know what I’m doing. I watched you as you were being formed in utter seclusion, as you were woven together in the dark of the womb. You’re not just some amoeba swimming in some primordial soup. You’re special. Unique. I saw you before you were born. Every day of your life is recorded in my book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. You are that special to me. I love you and want the best for you. God

A lobotomy is a surgery that is used to correct severe psychiatric defects. Figuratively speaking, we all need one from time to time. None of us are perfect. A lot of people think that they need to have a lobotomy before they can come to God, when actually He’s the One that does the operation. You don’t have to change to be accepted by His love. Jesus sacrificed His life because He loves you. Let Him correct those life defects. Yeah, when it happens, changes will be coming- good ones. Embrace them. You don’t have to get cleaned up to be good enough for God- or for any other person. Let Him do the cleaning. Let Him perform the surgery. And remember… we all need it. I don’t care who we are. Let’s say that you’re a terrible driver, and that God is a NASCAR driver. Would you reach over and grab the wheel because you thought you are a better driver than Him? We do it all the time- all of us! When you think about it from the “driver’s” point-of-view, it’s got to be a little stupid. It’s hard to not have our hands on the wheel. We don’t know how to drive better than the NASCAR guy- or God. He’ll drive us to beautiful and blessed places if we’ll let Him. Good places in life. He won’t drive us to a crack house or to a bar for a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred). He won’t drive us to the pits of despair. We drive ourselves to places we have no business going. Let God drive. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?

Christians yell and scream that Jesus is the only way we can be “saved” and the only way we can get to God. Their dogma on that matter is infuriating to a lot of people. They are no more open-minded about that philosophy than a vegetarian would be about eating meat. Or to a Mormon rejecting Joseph Smith. Or to a Satanist rejecting the dark lord. Or to a Darwinist rejecting evolution. What’s the difference? But… there is one. Here is an interesting point-of-view. Jesus was the only one that had to die to have someone believe in Him and go to heaven. Mohammed didn’t die like that. Buddha didn’t. Darwin didn’t. Joseph Smith didn’t. Mary Baker Eddy didn’t. Mohammed? Nope. Jim Jones? No way. Any of those TBN guys? Umm…I don’t think so. How about you? Did you die for you? Did you die for your friends? Out of love, Jesus did! There are some things that “Christians” and followers of Jesus believe in- Jesus is the only Savior of the world. There’s no way anyone can ever get to God but through Him. We believe it because that is what the Bible says. We’re not open-minded about that fact. Yeah, I know you’re thinking, “Here we go, just another close-minded religious person.” You’re probably right- except about the “religious” thing. You can believe differently if you want- you have the right to believe what you want. BUT WHAT IF YOU’RE WRONG? If you are, you have everything to lose. If we’re wrong, we have nothing to lose. Choose to follow Jesus. Not a man. Not a religion. Just Jesus. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?

A lot of times religious people are branded as judgmental, unloving and intolerant toward those not just like them. Why is it that way? Fear. “It might look bad to have a drug addict in our church.” “A homosexual or a pervert may infect us with their cooties.” “A poor single mother with three, snotty-nosed little kids might get our carpets dirty, and, Lord-forbid, may ask us for a handout.” Sick, isn’t it. The Bible says that perfect love (unconditional and tolerant love) gets rid of all fear. There are some Jesus-following people that have hearts of compassion for anyone- the drug addict, the homosexual, the pervert, the one having a hard time. They even love the judgmental, unloving, and intolerant religious person. Anybody. Everybody. Don’t look at what religion can do for you- it can’t do anything. Also, remember people are people. Only some will help you. Only some won’t fear you. Only some will really love you, and they can only love you because God loves you. Accept His help. Accept His forgiveness. Accept His love. “The Good Book.” What is that- Moby Dick, Great Expectations, Lord of the Rings- what? People call the Bible “The Good Book” but do they really do the “good” things that are put in there? Are they afraid that there’s something in there that, if obeyed, would affect their lifestyle? Wouldn’t that make the Bible a “bad book?” The Bible isn’t a bad thing. Yeah, it’ll show you how you’re messing up, but you would be surprised at how much good stuff is in there. And yeah, it’s full of “do’s and don’ts”, but there’s nothing in there that will make you screw up. When it comes to the Bible as a guidebook, a comedian once said, “If you do the do’s, you won’t have time to do the don’ts.” Some “Christians” want to shove it down your throat. Jesus-followers want it to be a comfort to you as you blend it into your life- not to condemn you, not to show you how ugly you are. The Bible can show you how to live a full life by hooking up with God’s power through Jesus- and He’ll help you to do it. Let’s talk about this. E-mail us today. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?
