Good morning friends This year started out great with a nomination in the Sammy Musical Awards.I started in round one not knowing if anyone voted at all. There were a couple hundred bands nominated, and the second round had gone toa mere 62.I was honored to make it at all.So I returned to the Tuesday/Wednesday open mic nights and could see the difference in my performance and I became more relaxed. This week I received another request and that was an interview with OurCityRadio's Amber Miller.I was asked many questions about things relative to the music and even had a few off the record laughs,This to me was a milestone talking about those who inspired me to become what I do now.Last year at this time I wondered about life, now I know that when you put your best foot forward you can see results. So if you are ever in my area stop out to The Green Gate on Tuesdays and say hello.
Last evening i attended and played at an open mic and i had a revelation. As i sat there on a bar stool with my guitar i looked out into the crowd. The previous group who were the hosts were a tough act to follow.I thought hmm what could i play that would have some kind of impact tonight.I started out with a song i always play at shows. At the end it was quiet, you could hear crickets chirp lol. I was later joined by the keyboard player and that is where i was able to relax and have fun.I played a song we had both played together .The vibe was so good he took the solo and i comped chords to support him as i said it was a blast.aaand that is where i realized that all music like people need harmony and melody

The holidays are upon us now. Thanksgiving a memory, and now Christmas ,time is flying by for me.Central NY has been good for yours truly as it has inspired me to do many things .This past Summer i wrote 3 songs, worked my ass off at a grocery store, and moved once more, hopefully for the last time. When I arrived i went to work right away ,and decided to attend and perform at open mic nights.A year ago I would not have considered this to be an option. But now not only an opportunity to perform, but also revisit my roots. With only an acoustic,I had to play these songs that sometimes kept me awake at night as they raced thru my head.I was nervous at first as i watched for peoples reaction to my mix of original material. It went better than I thought so i went to week 2 and added some cover songs by Creedence ,The Eagles, and Seals and Crofts. Now into my 10th performance I have played for younger rock crowds at the Village Tavern as well as older dinner patrons at The Green Gate with the backing of keyboards drums and sometimes bass.I'm having the time of my life now and will continue to forge ahead into the New Frontier.Happy Holidays Told Fans and my other FB Friends.
Hello readers here is my blog for the month of November. As you may know Told has moved to Central NY and I am into my 3rd month as a citizen..Thanks to establishment like The Green Gate Inn and Abbott's Village Tavern I have been able to perform not only New material but Cover songs by Artists that inspired me to play way back in 1969,In doing these open mic nights I have been able to perform with the backing of great Musicians whom I admire and whose music I enjoy..Little did I know one year ago ,that I would be playing Unplugged shows on a weekly basis and not wondering when my songs would be heard.A big thanks go out to the following musicians for their Friendship and allowing me to share the stage with,Joe B Henson,Kevin Barrigar,Rick Jewett and Kevin Dean.Until next time I will use my credo that I never tire of,,KEEP ON ROCKIN'.Peace.
Hello friends As some of you know I recently relocated to Central NY.This move gave me the initiative to begin playing live shows with only my acoustic and my songs.A year ago I would have said nah, I will never do Open Mic night here.Well, there I am playing my own music as well as songs by the people whose music will be forever ingrained in my life. It's nice to be able to play that Neil Young song and then ,sneak one of my own in .I am going into my 4 th show in a month and looking forward into seeing some and or many of you there thanks for listening aand as always" Let The Music Do The Talking".
Hello Friends here is yet another installment of my blogs. After returning to NY from Florida I became Told, yet another Musical chapter in my life.In between working at a local grocery store and writing new material for a soon to be released EP it became apparent that I would have to move to a larger and more fertile environment .It is a safe assumption that the scene there was in dire need of change and that I was not going to lead the way of a true original artist.Age has nothing to do with talent as they would like you to believe,My musical friends would also agree as they are in the 40 + age group,Being part of the club has never appealed to me and I am a true innovator of the singer/songwriter who has chosen to not only to continue but grow as an artist.I will not speak harshly of the scene I left but wish them all success in their endeavors.I would like to thank those who have taken the time to listen and appreciate what Told is doing and what I will continue on my Life journey in Music.Til the next time Friends and Fans, stay happy and enjoy what we have on this ever chaotic and crazy planet.Always remember to be good to one another!!!
Hi friends just wanna fill you in with whats been going on .As you know the song "Told" was released last month and has done pretty good..Since moving back to NY i have a renewed passion for what I do, and I will hopefully continue to write new songs for You the listener.Until the next Blog, keep good music in your life for it is one of the last things that cannot be taken away.
Hello to all who read these blogs. On July 11th Told released it's first song since arriving back in New York.Between settling into a new Apt/Studio .So far the song is doing well much to my satisfaction ,and a new song is in the works .Kinda reminds me of when 8 Months was written in 2010.Hopefully creativity and time allows for more to come. Thanks to all who listen and continue to watch the videos.
Hey Kevin...listened to your stuff...DEEP...DARK...RAW ...Wow what killer use of the signature riff and hook on your song ...I've got to admit its grows on ya and the video is a plus...gets right in your head...but what excites me in your writing and playing...is the patients of the songs...man you've got your head wired tight on your songs with an eazy feel that lets you hear and is not forced on the listener ...great job Kevin...New York style.
