So to those of you who came out to Kokua Japan in San Francisco's Japantown, we want to say thank you for your love and support! We had a blast playing for this event and we heard that the event generated over $25,000 in aid for the Tsunami/Earthquake victims. We were truly honored to have been a part of the event, and it was our pleasure to contribute our time and talent to help and do out part. And again, it's never too late to give your love in the form of a donation, go to www.kokuaforjapan.com and look for the link titled "Donate Now." We are all trying to do our part to help, and you can too! It's never too late!
In addition to the Kokua for Japan event, we played for our monthly Soulful Sunday @ Pier 23 in San Francisco. And talk about a beautiful day in the bay! We had sunshine and semi-blue skies through out the day, which brought out everyone looking for a cold beer, killin seafood(btw, I hear the tuna sandwich is to die for...I'm more of a fish taco kind of guy), and some feelgood music! We have been doing this event for the past couple of months, and it just keeps getting better and better! This time we had the amazing BPM horn section hop on board with us (Bill Smolik on Trumpet, Max Ghenis on Sax and Patrick Malabuyo on Trombone) who sounded amazing as always, and it was truly an evening to behold. If you missed out...well you missed out! hahaha...but rest assured that we will be back so be sure to stay on the look out for our next Soulful Sunday @ Pier 23 on May 1st, and if you are curious about the menu or the overall vibe you can look them up @ www.pier23cafe.com
There is absolutely nothing better than playing music for people who love music! Thanks again everyone and let's do it again soon. How about at the Cherry Blossom festival in Japantown on the 16th? See you there!!! Take care everyone and have a feelgood week!
We had a great JazzyMcfunky SF weekend yall! Thanks to everyone who made it out to the shows in SF, especially Nicole & the Ligons! Happy Bday again Marsha! If you didnt make it out start planning now for Friday 4/16 @ Pier 23 in SF -9pm! We got a number of special guests so dont miss out!!
Had an amazing weekend full of music and good peoples! Friday night at Jillian's in SF, attendees were blessed by the supernatural sounds of Nate Mercereau on guitar....yall already know how ridonculous that cat is! Thanks also to our boy Max Ghenis (sax) who dropped in and put his jazzy big toe in the mix.
Saturday night we hit up Temple Bar & Lounge in SJ with our extra special guest - on drums we had the unparalleled Clarence Lewis who kept the blood pumpin' and heads knockin'! You had to be there! Hot fudge on a Sundae...I'm just sayin'! And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, gotta give it up to the talented Charito Soriano with the golden vocal cords, Ed Pasalo (keys) & Lionel Briones (vocals/sax) with their bag of melodic funk for holdin' us down!
Last but not least, thanks to everyone who came out to show us love on Valentines Day weekend! We're gonna be hittin' up Temple Lounge again on Feb 26th. Dont miss out!
