Tara Elliott and The Red Velvets / Blog

Lynyrd Skynyrd's Artimus Pyle + My video featured in New Jersey Stage magazine

Dear Red Velvet Rockers, For those of you who missed last Friday's show, I'd like to share what is a tiny step for mankind but a big step for Tara Elliott. First and foremost, a HUGE Thanks to radio star Keith Roth for being such a sweet friend and tremendous supporter of my music over the years. Also, another BIG Thanks to Marc Regan for inviting me to perform for ROCK THE FARM to support CFC Loud N Clear Foundation's important cause - I can sympathize as I've personally dealt with the gravity of addiction when I was a teenager, and watched loved ones suffer from it, too. On a lighter note, I had the honor of sharing the stage last weekend with Frankenstein 3000 and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers: Earl Slick (David Bowie's guitar player, John Lennon) and legendary drummer, Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd. As I stepped off the stage from my guest performance with Frankenstein 3000 and Earl Slick, Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd was at the front of the stage. He approached me and said "That was beautiful!", so of course, I thanked him and kissed him on the cheek. When Artimus was performing, he talked about me on stage and said, "The lady with the red dress, what passion, she is a rockstar". I almost fell off my chair! Then, Artimus invited me on stage to sing a couple of choruses of "Sweet Home Alabama" with him. We chatted later at the end of night, and afterwards he kissed my hand to say good night and said "That's how we treat ladies in the south". The reason I shared this with you, is because I am so grateful and want to thank each of you for giving me hope, love and respect for following my rainbow through thick and thicker over the years - because if you didn't, I wouldn't be able to enjoy such RARE magical moments. THANK YOU & GOD BLESS!! Without further adieu, Tara Elliott and The Red Velvets - Drop a Needle on The King (Official Music Video) is the Featured Music Video in the latest issue of New Jersey Stage magazine on page 75. Lovely Red Velvet Rockers, Thank you for PACKING Wonder Bar for my CD party on Jan 24, 2014! It was a freezing January night, thank you for cheering me on, singing along & buying my CDs & Tees- YOU ARE THE BEST! My new album "Drop a Needle on The King" has received INCREDIBLE reviews on the air and in press, including a FULL-PAGE feature in The Aquarian this week! I'm sharing some quotes with you see below. Drop a Needle on The King is NOW available for purchase at www.theredvelvets.com!

"Her name is Tara Elliott, and she is an icon, a goddess, and an all-around genuine human being... With her powerful vocal range, Tara could bring people in off the streets who have no interest in music whatsoever... The band’s new record, Drop A Needle On The King, is flawless. I love the album title, for I am a vinyl junkie, and think it’s appropriate that the queen herself associated her throne with the king." ~ Maria Mar, The Aquarian Weekly

"Tara Elliott is a singer that doesn’t just walk into a room. Elliott explodes into it, letting you know in no uncertain terms that it’s her brand that you should be paying attention to. It’s not uncommon to watch Elliott outcuss and outdrink most men, and her penchant for over-the-top sardonicism is local music scene lore. That colorful and self-confident attitude splashes and spills over the rim on her new record, Drop A Needle On The King. ... Elliott pulls off a soulful Robert Plant inflection like no one else I’ve seen or heard around here. She doesn’t copy, but she picks out certain stylistic Plant ticks and injects them into her very own voodoo presentation." ~ John Pfeiffer, The Aquarian Weekly

"Tara Elliott can’t be stopped... She comes blasting out of the gate with the album-opening “21st Century Mata Hari,” with a powerhouse “Bond”-theme-esque vocal proving again that she’s one of the best singers around." ~ Alex Biese, Asbury Park Press Metromix

"If we’ve learned one thing about Tara Elliott it’s this — she has no fear. Her latest release, Drop a Needle on the King, is Elliott at her best, boldly fusing punk and blues while throwing caution to the wind and taking a number of musical risks... Drop a Needle on the King is a very strong release from the local Asbury songstress and guitarista that, while steeped in the rich tradition of rock ‘n’ roll, is still a very in the moment-sounding and entertaining as all hell release." ~ Bill Bodkin, Pop-break

"Pouring on the lowdown bluesy rock’n’roll like nobody’s goddamn business, singer Tara Elliott and her group deliver a fierce’n’fiery onslaught of pure punchy rock that’s sure to make you shake your ass with gleeful abandon." ~ Joe Wawrzyniak, Jersey Beat

Tara Elliott & The Red Velvets debut EP released and on sale NOW!!

Purchase their CD at- http://cdbaby.com/cd/redvelvets On August 28, 2010, Tara Elliott and The Red Velvets threw a RED-HOT Burlesque EP Release Party at the Legendary Asbury Lanes which overflowed with their signature red velvet cupcakes, sexy new t-shirts and CDs. They self-released their debut eponymous EP which was engineered by Monster Magnet drummer, Bob Pantella. In an attempt to revive good old fashioned rock n' roll humor, Tara Elliott let Rosemary Conte (mother of New York Doll guitarist, Steve Conte) wash her mouth out with soap for the album cover art. Their 4-song EP release resulted in major radio airplay and interviews on New Jersey rock station 95.9FM The WRAT's Electric Ballroom Radio show and Jersey Rock show. "We love Tara Elliott. She's a great local talent soon to be an international in the upcoming future. She's been called "The Bastard Child of Janis Joplin and the Stooges". There's not too often you get a quote like that, that someone actually delivers. And she delivers." -Keith Roth, DJ of Electric Ballroom Radio 95.9FM The WRAT, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, David Johansen's Mansion Of Fun.
