Hot Summer of Hurry Up and Waits....

Been awhile, I know, since I posted anything. Beginning of July was a mad scramble to write a ton, submit even more, and make connections with long (and not so long) shots! And then the summer hit….and all musical functions and possibilities got really…really quiet. And I got placed into that very familiar and annoying spot of hurry up and wait.

But fear not, I always have at least 3 or 4 tricks up my sleeve and am very confident that this winter/new year will bring lots of exciting news that I can share with you!

While you’re waiting…here’s a few more tracks for you to digest. “Free” (in the Electronic music section of the site) was a challenge writing project given to me by my fiance. He challenged me to write a 5 note song. I thought, “pentatonic scale? done!” and I’m super happy with it. Putting limitations on my creativity actually really really works. I need to do that more often;)

Also, here’s a work for hire I did awhile back for a demo reel http://www.jeannamurphy.com/2012/06/20/356/ A collab of Kel and I’s. Believe it or not, that’s a stripped down version of our song “Vamp”.

I also added another music section to the website for piano solo works. Please peruse and let me know what you think.

Lastly, I’m so excited to present my first official logo for my company Dreamr Productions!! It’s been a long time coming but it was totally worth the wait. Thank you Nikki Klecha for your hard work on the design. I love it!! The picture is actually from a silhouette drawing of me and my brother way back when. I’ve wanted to use that picture for so long but didn’t know how till now. Yay!!

Have a great month and I’ll talk to you soon,

Web show theme and other news

Hi all,

These past couple of months have been just awesome. I've been staying really really busy lately with music project after music project. The album Dream Volume One is doing really well also. If you haven't already, check out this really cool review that jittermusic.com did. http://www.jitternoise.com/artists-corner/jeanna-murphy-dream-vol-1-review/

If you still haven't bought the album, you can find it at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jeannamurphy or at ITunes, Amazon, or Google Play (to name a few). Or preview it on Spotify. So many options!

Several months ago I got to help out a friend on developing a theme song for a web show he's pitching. He was looking for something along the lines of 30 Rock's theme. At first glance I thought "I can't do that", but then I put my mind to it and voila! I discovered that one of my existing songs had just the right platform to re-transfigure it into exactly what he was looking for. Check it out. I'll keep you updated on where the show ends up. It's really really fun and a bunch of my friends are in it so...bonus! http://youtu.be/VeokxVzoHN8

Last week I finished up working on a documentary for an after school program in Bellevue Washington. It went from 4 1/2 minutes, to 8 minutes, to 11 minutes! I was a "bit" stressed out writing 11 minutes of music because I'd only allotted time for maybe 6 or 7 but lo and behold I made it work. They presented the video last Saturday and I can't wait to see how it all worked out. I'll hopefully post that one very soon.

I'm really enjoying writing custom music for peoples projects so if you have friends in need of a prolific and very fast writer (or even a lead to a company/project that's looking) please send them my way or let me know about it. I love doing this (as I'm sure you're all aware of by now) and I want to do more and more and more....

And as an added bonus because I like you guys so much. I've added new music to the site! Come check it out on the flashplayer at http://www.jeannamurphy.com They're called "Lights, Camera, Action", "Hopeful" and "Lies and Deceit".

Have a lovely rest of your week. More news coming soon.

p.s. new website coming soon!

Album review and new music placement!!

Good morning all and Happy early Easter!

I'm so excited to tell you that Dream Volume One got it's first review!! The good people at Jitter Noise wrote an awesome article on each track individually. Brayden Styles is the man! He took the time and reviewed every track and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. He even went out and bought the album when I had offered it to him for free. I am definetely feeling the love right now:) You can read the review here: http://www.jitternoise.com/artists-corner/jeanna-murphy-dream-vol-1-review/ Please check out the rest of the site as well. Jitternoise is a great blogger site with people that love music and art running it. ; They love what they're doing and their passion is contagious. Thanks again Brayden.

Then, if my Friday couldn't have gotten better, I checked my ASCAP site and saw that I got another music placement! This time it was on the OWN network on Oprah's Master Class show. The episode was called "How Lady Gaga Found Her Calling" and it aired back in November. I can't tell you how to find it but I can say you can find it online:) (If you don't know how to search for that sort of thing I'm sure you know somebody who knows how to show you;) Jeanna music is playing for about 10 seconds starting at 18 minutes and 36 seconds in.

I hope you're all enjoying the new tunes and spreading the word. Hopefully, if all goes well, I'd like to release Volume Two sometime at the end of 2012. But you've gotta help me get the word out! Tell your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, etc. Harnessing the energy of Stefon from SNL I quote, "This album has everything! Beat-boxing aliens, moaning whales, anvils, accordions, creepy choirs, inspirational choirs, mournful strings, quirky synth sounds, musical poems, and so much more." A little something for everyone!

Just in case you missed it before, here are just some of the links to download/preview the album:

You can also preview it on Spotify! Have a great weekend and I'll talk to you soon,

Dream Volume One just over a month away!!

Happy Thursday to you all,

I am so excited to remind you that Dream Volume One is on its way very soon to a computer near you! The album drops March 1st, 2012. So don't forget March 1st, 2012. Once again, that's March 1st, 2012.

The album will be available for digital distribution only...well, at least for the time being. I've written 17 tracks (3 are co-writes with my good friend Kel kostar8.com) for your listening enjoyment. A lot of them you've probably heard, others are brand spanking new. All in all (and I know I say this a lot) I am very pleased with the result.

Justin Potts from Infinity Arts, once again, has created some fun and whimsical artwork for the cover that I can't wait to highlight. I love how he creates and am so thrilled to have him return for my sophomore album. Follow the link to see a youtube of the teaser with artwork included (As well as some "me" pictures over the past several years. Normally I like to leave those things be...but I know it's a thing... so I digress)

If you're like me and just can't wait for March 1st to arrive, you can also purchase "Magic" for a very low price at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/murphyjeanna To buy the physical album is only $8. To download the album is only $5! Just think of what a wonderful gift that would make!

So enjoy the teaser video, tell all your friends, and don't forget.....

March 1st, 2012....it arrives;)

Have a great rest of your week and we'll talk soon.

Give the gift of music this Christmas

Happy Holiday Season my friends!

In preparation for the holiday season as well as for the upcoming album I've discounted my first album "Magic". What a great stocking stuffer it would make! Introspective, electronic, eclectic, and quirky music to enjoy and share with your friends and family. The discount, however, is only offered through CDBaby at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/murphyjeanna You can get either the physical or the downloaded version of the album for only $5! Or buy per track for $0.56 each! if you're still not sure, "Magic" is now on Spotify! You can also preview it on Itunes and Amazon and all the other million and one music sites that hover over this virtual universe of ours.

"Dream Volume One" is no longer just an idea but a reality. Actual thought process and brain power has been activated in me and I will be getting it out to you early next year. Release date will be March 1st, 2012!!! Yay! To hear a sneak peak of what to expect check out any of my social network sites or just go to the official site at http://www.jeannamurphy.com . I have quite a few tracks that I have planned for the album. Guess I'll be getting my superwomen cape out for this one!

"Volume One", as I mentioned in the previous email, will be of my favorite electronica tracks. And I've got a lot! The album is most likely going to have 16 tracks available for digital download only. Sadly, physical CD's are just not cost effective anymore as well as being a LOT more work. So we'll stick with virtual for the time being.

In the meantime, I hope that "Magic" was exactly that last minute present you were looking for and that it brings you and your loved one(s) joy this holiday season.

Stay tuned for new music and as usual I'll talk to you soon,

Jeanna Murphy
