Sam Cooper / Blog

Hope it's not some kind of mistake....

Well this never happened before on Reverbnation--making a top 10 list for Nashville in the Blues charts. Wow and THANKS! The other people in the top 10 list are some of my favorites! Very humbling to be close to them!

Who's #1?

Here's another site--http://www.numberonemusic.com/browse?action=search&geo=local&country=225&state=43&cityzip=Nashville&genre=69&page=1&user_sid=samcooper Thanks to whoever makes these rankings--#1 in TN and Nashville in the "other" genre.

Updates as of 5-1-17--a big THANK YOU!

I'm not good at this blogging thing, so it's been a while. Anyway--thanks to everyone who has been behind the music and the things I'm involved with. A few things to mention. I'm still hosting and playing the weekly mini-songwriter festivals on Music Row in Nashville, Sam's Jams at Bobby's Idle Hour, 1028 16th Ave. S., Nashville, TN 37212 every Wed. from noon to 8.

As of May 8, I'll also host and play Sam's Songwriter Showcase every Monday night from 7 to 11 pm on Nashville's "Rock Block" at the Gold Rush, 2205 Elliston Pl., Nashville, TN 37203.

Then, on another front, I'm stepping up playing bass guitar more with Americana's soulsters of Music Row, The Mighty Train Wrecks! Places you'll find us at include, but are not limited to, Bobby's Idle Hour, Marco's @ 822 South, Douglas Corner Cafe, The Millennium Maxwell House and 404 Bar and Grill.

I'm also privileged to host my songwriter friends on the 2nd weekend of every month, both Fri. & Sat. nights, at the fabulous getaway, The Bear Inn Resort, in Clifton, TN.

As always, my plate is full with songwriting and producing music for a myriad of Nashville talent, too.

Anyway, YOU are the ones who help make what I do possible. Thanks for your support! If you want to email me, jericat@yahoo.com!

Expanding my musical horizons in South Carolina

This week on Wed. Aug. 31, I'm playing a Hump Day double in Nashville, but the real news for my friends in South Carolina--I'll be at the Roasting Room in Bluffton (near Hilton Head). Hope to see some familiar faces! See details for all gigs at www.reverbnation.com/samcooperjericatmusic

3 great gigs in the heart of the week--

July 13, Wed. morning--Gary Hannan's BEER FOR BREAKFAST at 11 AM. Wed. afternoon--hosting and playing at SAM'S JAMS, noon to 8 PM. July 14, Thursday evening--hosting a round at Millennium Maxwell House at 8 PM. Details at my reverbnation page!

Come on out on a Monday evening in Nashville!

Monday, June 27, 7 pm, 404 Bar and Grill (404 Elysian Fields Rd, Nashville, TN 37211), I'm honored to be in the 7 pm set of original songwriters. There will be several sets after this, all wonderful songwriters, too! The night's host is Eddie Paul, an extraordinary singer/songwriter himself. The food is great, the parking is free, and the music is cool! Thanks for your support and for sharing this!

3621932Been Pretty Busy Thanks To YOU

I'm a lucky guy because I get to do what I love. Always busy recording, writing, performing--thanks to everyone who makes that possible! I try to keep ALL public performances updated here at Reverbnation.com, but if you'd also like to get my weekly emails, please let me know at jericat@yahoo.com. You'll actually be reaching me, not "one of my people" or some robotic thing. Thanks!

Just a look around...

Lucky...yeah, that's the word that sums it up. Just turned 62 a few weeks before this post and I've had a pretty good run, so far. Not just musically, but life-wise, my world is pretty cool. I have my own studio, which is a great vehicle for me to make music as I hear it in my head (lots of tunes, but just the tip of the iceberg, at www.jericat.com). I've played one of the most prestigious venues in my town of Nashville (and the country) twice in a year--the Ryman Auditorium with a band I put together from some of my favorite musicians (Reckless Abandon). I was a performer at the prestigious Frank Brown International Songwriter Festival the last two years (including this year's 30th Anniversary). I pretty much perform as much as I have time for at great songwriter venues in Nashville. That stuff is all dwarfed by having the most incredible wife, kids and friends, a wonderful home and many reasons to smile when I rise every day. While many would consider it a bad thing to have a heart attack, mine was a warning shot last January--I've come back better and stronger than ever. While not a religious guy, my spirituality has led me to two major conclusions that I try to live by--1. Do the right thing. & 2. Do your best all the time. I've learned that love is all about giving and not about taking or keeping score. I've also learned that it's often important to get over who gets credit for things. It's probably been said in this way and many others, but Thank You, World!
