On Sunday 31st July, I played my last live solo gig. I decided quite a while back that it was time I stepped down from doing my own gigs. (I will still perform at the occasional open mic or even as a support act (if i'm lucky) but I gave my self a date and have now called time. Why? Two reasons - Because I have always stuck to my guns, as a singer song writer, wanting to mainly play my own music, gigs have become harder harder to get, as the "fashion" is for cover acts or tribute artists. Secondly, I think I have "done my time". I have been lucky over the years to play to some good audiences over the years but I have also done many many gigs in front of only a handful of people....even one gig to Two people together with a dog and a one eyed cat (the dog even joined me on stage for a song)...true story.
I will still write and record, of course but the big gigs of two 45 mins sets are now already a distant memory ...... Bruno
I love this song and have being doing a cover of the original for a while now. However, recently I decided to add my "own twist" on the song and the recent video has captured that version. Seems to have gone down well every time I have played it..
Sometimes a movie or a TV Show can inspire you to write a song - on this occasion I was inspired by Shane Meadows movie and TV show of This Is England. The view is of a broken England in the 80’s – hope I’ve done it justice
Such a great gig last week supporting Dr Feelgood. Not only was it great supporting such an Iconic band again but theri crowd were so good to me, cheering every song and even asking for an encore. Another excellent experience.
I will be performing live on Black Cat Radio on 28th Feb. It’s an hour long program about me - Tony Gilham will be interviewing me, playing five songs off my CD From Here To Obscurity and I will be performing five songs live from the Perry Road Studio. It starts at 7.00pm until 8.00pm ... To listen you can either A) Black Cat Radio DAB (digital) by then they will be on the Sandy Transmitter so should cover basically north of London, Herts, Beds, Luton, Cambs, Peterborough and up to the edge of Midlands: B)or on http://www.blackcatradio.biz/
The last three years have been really busy with not only solo gigs all over the Uk (and one in China last year) but being the support act to number of great artists too.. I'll be recording a whole load of songs in the studio and sorting out more gigs for 2013 - who knows what it will bring.
