“Music has always been my back door to life. It is important for people to find something that excites them. I like the concept that if you do what excites you, you will be rewarded generously, whatever form reward takes, which is not necessarily money.” –Brandon Boyd I love this quote. It’s so true, those of you who are at a job you hate, or majoring in something that you’re not passionate about can relate, I’m sure. It makes me realize how lucky I am to have music. I have known my whole life what I have wanted, and what I loved. I never doubted it for a second. That’s a blessing. My friends and I are all at the age where we are all wondering, what the hell are we doing with our lives? Where are we going? It’s a scary thought. When you’re 16, you think it will all be so easy, and everything will fall into place, and it then it doesn’t and panic mode strikes. I think that’s why this quote affected me so much. What’s the point of living your life everyday for the almighty dollar, if you’re not excited, passionate, or inspired? I say there is no point. Money can only make you so happy, material possessions can only be gratifying for so long..but moments, memories, feelings, those last forever. The amount of hard work and commitment that goes into our band is a lot, much more than people see, and we certainly are not making the big bucks from it, but it is honestly the happiest I have ever been. I am excited on a daily basis, about a new song, a show, an idea, or just being able to jam with my best friends. I’m being rewarded. These are memories that I will have forever, and I will forever cherish. So, I guess the point of this, is just to remind people, especially now a days (when life is so stressful, and hard) to be excited, find something, anything to excite you to keep you going, cause life is way to short not to. So, moving away from the introspective side of the blog, let’s talk music and what’s been going on! We have had a lot of cool things happen to us in the past few months. We scheduled our first out of state show, and we are in the semi finals to be 89X houseband for 2010. I’m so excited for this battle. I’m not gonna lie, I wanna win, I wanna win bad. To be able to play the 89X stage @ The Detroit Warped date in 2010 would be a dream come true. It’s not going to be easy, we have some stiff competition, and you just never know what the judges are looking for, but I know we are going to bring our A+ game, and I can’t wait to get on that stage. I know just the anticipation, our competitive nature, and the all around excitement; will make for just crazy energy onstage, so no matter what, it is sure to be a bad ass show. And while I’m talking about it…Its on DEC 3 @ TNTS (15 and Harper, Clinton Twp) starts round 9, say you’re there for Shotgun Soul, I’ll buy you a puppy. Really though, all kidding aside, we really need as much support as we can get for this. The more people we have in the crowd the better our chances of winning are, this is such a huge opportunity for us, and it would mean the world to us to see a ton of you there rockin’ your asses off. Ok, no more shameless promotion. Sorry. Ha. I guess this is the end, hope to see a bunch of you all out at shows, and I hope everybody has a awesome Holiday Season, and remember, don’t become a slave to the marketing machine that is Christmas, just enjoy your families, friends, food, and blessings. It’s not about spending money and getting cool presents (although giving is fun)..it’s about being thankful for what you have. =) Much Love, Liz
