Hi to all, It has been a while and I am sending out appreciation for your patience. I have been listing shows but haven't communicated in this way and wanted to "catch up". I wanted to let you know what has been happening, musically, with me as things are moving very quickly. In 2014, I woke up thinking that I had never seen a bass player and vocalist in the blues world. I called up a young man that I had worked with at various times and asked if he would be interested. He said yes. We entered the International Blues Challenge, won the right to represent British Columbia and were finalists in Memphis. We, each, were also inducted as a Master Blues Artist in the Blues Hall Of Fame. What an honor and powerful acknowledgement. At 69 years of age...this is my 70th year..it is very gratifying for me and for the music that I create. We have just completed recording our new cd and are planning its release. The title is, "I Been Around A While". We will let you know when it will be released. In the meantime, please take care and if you can attend any of the upcoming shows, we would love to see you there. Please come and say "hello" if you do attend. in peace,Dalannah
Hi to all, It has been some time since I entered any information here and I "thank you" for checking in. It has been an amazing year so far and I have been involved in so many things happening around town. Summer was full of events, singing and ceremonies...all good. I have returned as executive director of the Downtown Eastside Centre for the Arts and am excited about new possibilities for this important organization. A musical story to tell. I woke up one morning thinking that I had never heard a blues singer with a bass player. I called up a young bassist who I think is very talented and asked if he would be interested in partnering with me and he said yes. So....we entered the International Blues Challenge for BC in the solo-duo category and we won. We now will be heading to Memphis in January to compete at the International Blues Challenge...love it I have added dates for the next two months and hope that some of you can attend. We really would like for you to attend one of the Memphis fundraisers. "Thank you" for checking out my site.
We had a wonderful 2013 and really looking forward to what 2014 will bring.
Our performances of 2013 allowed us to work with some incredible musicians and play at some incredible events.
I want to take the time to thank the many people who supported me, hugged me, loved me volunteered for my community projects or helped in any way as I continue my journey with my music and my community service.
I continue to explore opportunities to create new programs/opportunities for those who live in poverty and the related issues that come in that climate.
I will be recording a new cd in 2014 and have completed writing all of the songs so I am getting excited about that. I also will be working with a new group this year and will be sharing more about that in the coming months.
One of my bands, EVM which performs the music of legendary Van Morrison.....our way....has just finalized our cd and I can share with you that when I heard it......I cried. I am so grateful to Simon Kendall, Paul Bergman and Karen Graves for sharing in this project. We all love Van's work and we all felt that we could do something different with the songs..I will let you know when we have social media availability for the new cd called "'Old Old Woodstock"
