Real Fans or not?

I don't know about the rest of you out there in Reverbnation land but, I find it kind of insulting when I get new fans and they appear to have not even listened to any of my songs. How can you be a fan then? What are you a fan of? I feel it appropriate to at least listen to some of the songs of an artist that friends me or that I friend. Let's not turn this site into one of those "friend" collection sites. I want real fans.

How true. I love seeing a new fan in my mailbox... maybe that's because I don't get very many! So, I feel it's appropriate to at least listen to a few of their songs. But what happens if you get "fanned" and you want to "fan them back" but after a brief listen you have second thoughts?? Perhaps that just underlines the point my esteemed colleague (and fan) has made.
