A Kiss for Country

It's time to help kiss domestic violence goodbye with the second annual A KISS FOR COUNTRY auction! This year, The Road Hammers have teamed up with Mary Kay Inc., The Official Beauty Sponsor of the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, and the Country Music Association to lend their lips to the cause. By bidding on kisses from The Road Hammers, you can help raise awareness and funds for the prevention of domestic violence. From now until December 12, you can bid on your favorite Road Hammers "Kiss Cards" - one-of-a-kind plaques with signed kiss prints. For each autographed kiss print purchased, 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation programs committed to ending the epidemic of violence against women. Rememberance Day

Today was Rememberance Day here in Canada which is always a special day for me. My Dad was a veteran of the second world war. He fought for 4 years in many different countries. He never really spoke about it much but he would sometimes share a little on the friends he served with. After the war he came back to start a family and it turns out, I'm the 10th child of the pack! He passed away in '91 and I can't say how proud of him I am. As I watched the ceremonies on TV today I wished he could be around to share this day with his friends (he had a lot). So this one is for ALL veterans of all wars. I think I can speak on behalf of the entire Hammer organization when I say, we are proud of you, and thank you!

HomeGrown

Hey kids what the deuce! My bones r still rattling from the shear awesomeness of last week's video shoot for our new Canadian single "HOMEGROWN" we are looking good if I do say so myself! Plus i had makeup shellacked onto my face to cover all the warts and wrinkles! ha-ha! but really, it's to cover all the warts and wrinkles. Anyway we shot with a new director Roger who has done work with Shooter Jennings, Little Big Town and many other cool artist. I was by far the hardest working Hammer of the day with all my over acting and scissor kicking and 80's posing I was exhausted when I was done. But hey it's all worth it for rock n roll baby. Sometimes you just gotta suffer. Keep your eyes peeled for the new song Canada we missed ya, it's good to be back.

Fall

My favorite time of year is almost here again. The air cools down and the leaves start to change col our and hockey season gears up again. Go Flames! The hammers camp also starts to discuss the immediate and not so immediate future. We are all excited about putting new music on the street and the possibilities of touring-things the Hammers love to do. The othere thing I love about this time of year is the food. You can't eat stew in july because its too hot. But in october, stew and chilli and all that comfort food is the best! You can cook indoors without heating the house up. Maybe we should do a 'favorite comfort food' section here on the website! Anyway, my apologies for my blogging absence and have a great week!

Workin' Out with Clayton

Well the new video is on it's way! We have been getting the new Canadian record mixed while we are taking a break from the road. At the same time I am trying to get my outta shape ass ready to be on film! So I went to the local gym down the street and signed up for a personal trainer to get back to the Clayton of my youth! Well little did I know how far my star has fell! After 45 minutes my lunch left my stomach and I called it a day! The next day I was so sore that I nearly needed a lift to get outta my bed! Muscles that I never thought I had were screaming at me . Then I decided it would be a great idea to stretch out my aching muscles so before bed I went to do some crazy yoga move my wife showed me and suddenly the nerves in my back collapsed and so did I flat on my face! I laid in a crippled pile while my family slept trying to figure out how I would get to my bed. With a slow crawl face in the Berber I inched my way to my bed. Two days of traction, heat and ice and Advil and I am back on track! A few more weeks of this and I may even see some results! If not I'll just get butt implants(really large ones) and HUGE calf implants! Anyway I have to go ice my body and pop Advil before bed, so I'll talk to ya later. Oh and if you don't see me around for a few days, it's probably cause I'm face down in the carpet again so please call someone!!! Clayton.

Hammers go Coastal

Hey ya'll, So there we were in God's country, West Virginia on the east coast....we finished up an awesome run visiting radio stations and doing shows...then it was off to the other side of the continent to Salinas California to do a show with Lynyrd Skynyrd. (they also go by the name The Cutis Loew Band when they do small cool club gigs like the Stones have been known to do).......now we've done a lot of shows with some purdy cool folks, but dood...SKYNYRD! We had an awesome set at the Municipal Stadium to a sold out crowd, (although it was frickin' freezin'...I didn't know some parts of the Golden State got that cold at nights)....anyway, the music was hot (ha...)....then we got to meet the Skynyrd boys before they hit the stage...The crew were awesome to us...here's a cool fact...Piano man Billy Powell was originally a roadie for the band, until they discovered he was a smokin' piano player (cool)....check this out.....Clay bought some old vinyl and had the boys sign it....talk about an intimidating legacy to be around, in 1973, the Who refused to go on after Skynyrd opened at the Cow Palace in California because the crowd wouldn't stop calling for Skynyrd...and after our show, we were out front shouting the same thing....SKYNYRD, SKYNYRD, SKYNYRD, SKYNYRD, SKYNYRD, SKYNYRD!!!! Dood, we hung out with Skynyrd! (special thx to John Conlon for the hook up....sweet!) Now were back on the east coast less than 32 hours after we left...crazy man....rock on!!! Jason McCoy

A LITTLE REST

Since things are about to get rolling here with the record release and GAC about to run the TV show, I thought I might get home for a while and recharge. Tracy Dawn and I don't really do much of anything really, just hang out and have fun. We stopped by my Mom's house and she made dinner for us. I used to get there every week but these days, it's a rare treat. She is 82 and can still whip together a great dinner! So I pulled out an old cd I've had since I was sixteen. 'Desolation Blvd' by Sweet. These guys were overlooked by a lot of rock historians. Anyway, we're driving around listening to this record and Tracy's 8 year old daughter wants to hear this cd again and again. How cool is that! This music was made years before she was born and she is rockin' out!! Love it. I think next trip home we should continue her education with Zepplin and maybe some Alice Cooper. Chris
