Richard Halprin & the Bitter Herbs / Blog

Feeling Animated

My album, From the Garden of Bitter Herbs, recently became available on ITunes, Amazon and other digital sales outlets and a dizzying burst of inspiration lead me to create the first Bitter Herb's video, for 1-2-3 Ruminate. All of the images were hand drawn on my Iphone and the animated video was put together over a frenetic ten day period. It was an exciting, frustrating and, ultimately, rewarding adventure. Please come visit and let me know what you think.

Memorial Weekend redux

Not to be lost amidst the barbecues, gardening and swimming is the true purpose of the holiday...so we suggest a moment of reflection because there have been lives paradoxically lost all over the world in the search for peace and it never looks like there's an end in sight. It has been said that peace is defined as the time it takes to reload our weapons. Let's look forward to a time when we can speak through guitars instead of rifles.

family resemblance?

Some say the songs from the bitter herb's catalog are reminiscent of bob dylan, circa blonde on blonde. some say the bitter herbs' music sounds like it was written by leonard cohen, sung by lou reed with backing by wilco.

while we are still fine tuning, we invite you to listen and let us know what you think.
