I really enjoy performing at the Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church. The acoustics...the attentive audience...the whole shebang just makes me feel more like an artist than a musician. It's a beautiful thing to perform one's art for an appreciative crowd. I hope we play there again in 2010.
This show marked the first time Eric and I performed without our trademark "Pebble Kit". We stuck to simple arrangements of primarily new songs showcasing our earthier/organic side. I played acoustic guitar all night, while Eric alternated between guitar and mandolin. I was very encouraged by the simplicity of this arrangement, and also by the crowd's reaction to the set list which was comprised mostly of new songs we haven't recorded yet. See set list below:
1 DORTHA'S PORCH 2 MAY YOUR LIGHT SHINE BRIGHTLY 3 LONG AGO TRAIN 4 DRIVE ON #9 5 DREAM, COME TO ME 6 THE SLOW SONG 7 IN SEARCH OF A ROSE 8 COMPLICATED 9 THE WAY THE DAY GOES BY 10 HERE AGAIN 11 I WANT RECESS 12 TULUM 13 IN THE SUMMERTIME
We passed out the contents of Eric's magic bag of percussion instruments for the final few songs, and a good time was had by all.
