I got this letter...

Dear Michael,

We are grateful to God in anticipation of your upcoming baptism on September 27, 2015, in the 11:00 a.m. service. Baptism is a believer's identification with Christ and His church, and is usually a very meaningful event in a person's life. We hope it will be for you.

Please arrive at least thirty minutes before the service. Rob Cosby will meet you in the hallway near the baptistry and help you find a white robe for you to wear for the baptism. Plan to wear something underneath that can get wet-- a bathing suit, or shorts and a shirt. There are changing rooms near the baptistry. We have towels, but you may want to bring your own. After the baptism, you can dry off and return to worship service.

It is our custom at Highland to ask that people being baptized write a paragraph on their faith in Christ and what has led them to the decision to be baptized. It doesn't have to be long or eloquent; just put your experience into your own words in 4-8 sentences. We invite you to ask someone close to you in faith to read it on your behalf before you are baptized. Or you may choose to ask a minister to read it for you. Please let us know who will read for you by Wednesday before you are baptized.

I will meet with you briefly before the worship service to explain how we will stand in the water, and what you are to do. Trust me, it will be simple; the more challenging part is living as a baptized person after you leave the water!

May your baptism represent the beginning of a long and lovely life in Jesus Christ for you. I am honored to be the minister at your baptism.

Christ's peace,

Joe Phelps

Sometimes I think about people who were myspace famous and wonder where they are now. Buzzfeed should do an article on that.
