International Blues Challenge (IBC) Memphis 2014

We're so excited to announce that the Coco Butter Band was selected to represent the Steel City Blues Society at the 30th Annual IBC in Memphis! We'll be in the solo/duo category along with some of the best blues acts from across the globe.

Steel City Blues Challenge

We're competing in the SCBS Blues Challenge on November 14th to get the opportunity to compete in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge!

3 New Songs

We just recorded 3 new originals in the studio and would like to thank Burndown Studio and Davie Quicks for a Mitchtastic time! We'll be posting the new songs on Reverb tomorrow.

Steel City Coffee House

We had a great time playing at the open mic at Steel City on Thursday. It was our first public performance and we killed! The crowd definitely was not expecting what they saw, and that's a good thing.

Thanks to Studio 12 1/2 in Phoenixville!

We wanted to review a fantastic recording studio right here in Phoenixville that we had the pleasure of using last Sunday. We booked a session at Studio 12 1/2 with Patrick and came out with a great recording of the JJ Grey tune “On Fire” and a great working recording of the Aretha Franklin tune Chain of Fools. We obviously wanted to support a local business, but on top of that it was a great value. While we have recorded before with various other groups, this was the Coco Butter Band’s first studio session and Patrick was extremely accommodating and helpful with us adapting the Coco Butter Band’s sound to the studio format. While we were simply looking for a quick mix, Patrick graciously did some follow up mixing for us, which we are truly appreciative of. This was a great way for us to begin our library of recordings and Patrick was helpful in giving us some additional pointers and studio tricks, which we can use in the future. Please support this great local business and we thank Patrick for his help with our latest recording.

We're excited to be back together playing funky music.
