9/9/2014 set list

The Monkey Stompers started as The Monkey Stomper Jug Band, with me on guitar, bass, mandolin, and vocals; Billy Parrott on fiddle, mandolin, bass, and vocals, Robin Parrott on vocals and occasional clarinet and percussion; Thor Bahrman on ukulele, mandolin, and vocals; and Michael "Spanker" Spanjer on harmonica, euphonium, penny whistle, and vocals. Brenda Spanjer also contributed penny whistle in some of our early sets. After assorted life-changes and a lengthy hiatus, we have returned as simply The Monkey Stompers--turned out we never played any jug band music anyway--with Billy, Robin, and me, plus Emily Baker on guitar, banjo and vocals. We played our eclectic blend of Americana last night for a wonderful audience at a private party at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. Here is the set list: 1. Train Out My Window 2. I'd Better Stay 3. Cumberland River Blues 4. There Is a Time 5. Chicken on Your Head 6. Jolene 7. Another Day in the Past 8. Ashokan Farewell/Tennessee Waltz 9. Robin's Song 10. Mark My Grave/Are You Washed in the Blood 11. Sixteen Tons 12. My Heart Is Like a River 13. Reefer Man 14. Leave Your Monkey Here. The Monkey Stompers will be performing at the Parrott family reunion on September 20th and at the Holly Bay Campground at Laurel Lake on October 23rd. Come out to the campground and see us if you get a chance.
