live perfromance and interveiw

Dame are proud and ecstatically happy to announce that last night's 4th Annual Toronto Independent Music Awards, held at The Phoenix, rendered them victorious in The Best Alternative Rock category. As well, they dominated the field for Best Song, taking first place in a tie for both of their songs, "Cyclops" and "Intervention". The crowd went wild for the hard-rockin' Brampton trio as they accepted their honours, and again when they presented for the Best Punk category. Winning two titles in the ever-growing TIMA's will see Dame collect numerous prizes from various industry sponsors in the Toronto area, in addition to the commemorative plaque that was presented to them onstage last night. Further accolades will include their own AudioSpace mashup featured in MXPLAY, an upcoming live performance on 89.5 CIUT, audio and video press coverage from The Spill, promotions from Truth.Explosion Magazine, studio time from Fat Labs, and radio distribution from RDR Music. Congratulations girls; well done!

Dame plays benefit for orphans in Tanzania May 3

BRIGHTEN OUR FUTURE Revival Club College Street May 3

Below from Emily Mallett ****************************************** The orphaned and vulnerable children of Bukoba, Tanzania, need our help - to secure a brighter future through their continued education...

Thadeus Mutarubukwa, a dear friend whom I met while in Tanzania with World Vision in 2005, has since sacrificed his job, his home, his car and uprooted his family to return to his home village of Bukoba and open a centre for orphaned and vulnerable children: The Gerladina Orphanage and Education Centre. If you haven't already, please join our FACEBOOK GROUP: Friends of Gerladina Orphanage in Tanzania

Named after his late mother, Gerladina houses 13 orphans and 3 care-givers, plus Thadeus and his wife Anna. Thadeus teaches geography at a local village school to cover his living expenses while the operations at the Gerladina Centre rely solely on the generosity of others. Through child sponsorship and generous donations, the children at the centre are thriving and in 2008, Thadeus had enough funding to expand his ministry to the local village community, registering over 100 children in secondary school. However, this year, these children are not able to remain in school because this funding is running out.

Thadeus is a local village man, trying to give back to his community. We are a global community, able to keep his hope alive! Thadeus recently lost his father and with no surviving parents of his own, told me recently that he has a "re-newed pain for the suffering of these children...I am working to see their way through...please pray for us" Please come and join us for "Brighten Our Future" - an evening of diverse and exciting music, complete with a silent auction and Gerladina t-shirts for sale - where 100% of the proceeds will be donated towards the continued education for these children and the orphaned and vulnerable children to whom Thadeus is most dedicated.

Tickets will be available at the door for a minimum donation of $15. Please give what you can. Thank you! ~ E
