Writing a biography on yourself is daunting. What do I include? What do I exclude? Who is going to read this? What will they think of me?
With all these questions racing through my head pretty much 24/7 until my website is complete, it really brings up a pretty big mission of mine. Live your truth. Be yourself. Let yourself be exactly who you were meant to be. And the rest falls into place.
Live your truth. The truth of goodness, of struggle, of fighting to keep balance, of bright, of funny, of weird, of shy, of tired, of crazy energetic. Just be. Because the more you are yourself, the more love is going to pour out of you into the world because you are allowing yourself to love yourself.
So that is what my biography is going to be. It's going to be about me. Whether that is interesting or not, we shall see. ;) But that's the thing! We are all very interesting because never ever, in the history of the world has there ever been someone like you. Or like me. And that's why being me is a beautiful thing.
So be yourself. Be beautiful and in your truth with me. And enjoy my new website when it launches this month!
Let me get you up to speed. In the past seven years I moved to Colorado from Minnesota, started and sold my own company, met my husband, had a baby, graduated from college and finally... got myself in a financial position where I could follow my dream of creating my own music.
Seven years ago, I moved to Colorado to go to school in Boulder. At that time, I also started running. While I was running, I started hearing songs in my head, and decided that I wanted to write them down. A fire was lit in my heart on those runs, and the music got louder and louder in my head. I knew that I needed to write down what I was hearing, and so my songwriting hobby came to life.
But it wasn't enough to keep the singing and songwriting as a pipe dream. I constantly prayed and meditated on helping others with my music. I saw myself playing at festivals, at churches, at clubs.
After I moved to Evergreen this past fall, I was so lucky to meet several amazing musicians that pointed me in the right direction: to Rob Horton at Master Touch Studios in Evergreen. The pieces began falling into place. The music. The photo shoots. The writing. It was time to put the fruits of my labor out into the world.
And so, seven years later, I have a demo CD nearly complete. It goes to show that with some perseverance, planning and praying, you really can achieve your dreams. Here is to another step in the right direction, and thanks for listening.
