We hope you are doing well at the moment, and all moments for that matter. We are currently home. So as we are home we are being asked what are we doing? What is up with the new record? Are you playing around "here" anytime soon? Are you still a band? How many bass players have you had? So below I hope to address most of these questions.
We are currently at home in Knoxville, Tn and are getting acquainted with the married life. 2 of the members of Standing Small were married within the last 2 months. Ben (piano/voc) was married in May and Corey (Drums) was married in June. Shortly after this joining of 4 lives we went on a 2 week tour leading up to Cornerstone. The tour was amazing. It took much faith but the 4 indie bands that were on it made the best of it. God really challenged each band to remain faithful to Him and to treat eachother as they would wish to be treated. As for the S.S. boys there was much internal struggle but we learned a lot and were able to return home with a new understanding of our calling.
Now that we are home it is our hope to complete this record. While on tour we hit the 1 year mark of recording. We began recording this record on July 11th of 2008. Honestly, that was an anniversary I can't say that I was too psyched about. God is good though and it is our hope that there is a reason for such a lengthy time period. As we are here we are purchasing the necessary equipment that will allow us to fully complete the record. It is also our hope to have it finished within the next 2 months. Eeeek! Anyway, that is the status of the recording. We are gearing up to start talks about the final name, as we have several, and the artwork, promotion, etc. We shall keep you posted on that info as we figure it out.
We are still very much a band and are still striving towards the Kingdom with our music. The core members of S.S. are myself, Ben and Corey. We have a part-time bass player named Tyler Hays (who is amazing) and a part-time guitar/bass player named Joe Dunlap (unreal). They both are such a blessing to us and our ministry and we cannot thank them enough.
As for shows, we are working on our routing for the next few months and do have a show or two in the area. Please visit our myspace to see those dates.
That should bring you up to speed with us. We hope to have more info soon I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know what was going on with us. We really hope if you have any thoughts or prayers/requests that you will make use of our prayer forum on our pages. Thank you so much for your time and patience with us. Please keep checking in with us.
In Christ, Standing Small
