WEDEYA is putting the final touches on their new album and would like your help in giving it a name. What's noteworthy about the collection of tracks are their unified positive message. All tracks are leaning towards uplifting or positive progressive thinking. One can truly say that it is suitable for all generation of Reggae lovers. With the reliance on riddims and producer/lables in Reggae today, there are fewer and fewer from the ground up original material out there in the genre's mainstream. With roots bands in particular, doing original tracks, there are fewer songs with dancehall elements voiced on one of a kind music tracks. WEDEYA has fused the roots and dancehall over their original tracks. In fact, only ones music track shares another artist other than WEDEYA. That doesn't mean that the band doesn't enjoy riddims though. The majority of the band is from Jamaica and grew up on the original Jamaican staples. Elijah, the group's lead vocalist and writer, adds, "on a typical day I'll listen to everything from Bob Marley and Burning Spear to Chronic and Sizzla. It's all reggae to me."

The album is due out early 2014 and the band has their eyes fixed on Europe. With limited AirPlay in Denmark and Spain, the group is looking to bring their brand to broader base. And Japan is not far off as well, with current talks in progress to make an Asian invasion. In the mean time their single TOO MUCH FIGHTING is in iTunes an their Reverbnation Store and ROCK STEADY is in the Reverbnation Store. Greetings one and all. Welcome to this week's WEDEYA Blog post. The band has been quite busy in the last couple of weeks though most of the activity has been in the back ground. July began with the band busy in the studio - the rehearsal studio. The group took to Crown Heights and Prospect Heights for an intensive workout. This was all due to the 10th Annual Maplewoodstock Music Festival at Memorial Park, Maplewood, NJ.
The 8 strong super group took to the stage on July 14th as the second to last act of the two day annual festival. Their set, consisted of 6 songs, of which only two have been released.
Rock Steady, the groups' 2nd single was the opening number after a brief musical intro. The energy was electric as EliJAH, the group's lead vocalist, had the audience waving back and forth to the chant of "rock steady…rock stead." The group then debuted the 1st of 6 unreleased tracks - a song called "I'm Trying". An updated version of song previously entitled "Warning" - redubbed "Dawning" and "Its You" had the crowd swinging. Tight scheduling and setup delays reduced their set to 30 mins. The group jumped into their final song - "Good Vibes" which can easily be considered an anthem, as it refrains "…and wedeya". All n all, it was definitely good vibes and a good indicator that the group is here to stay.
As the album grows closer to completion, the group has been putting finishing touches and even adding last minute tracks to the project. The album - code named ONYA! - saw delays due to Hurricane Sandy. Recorded at Coop Studios, Oceanside, NY, the studio was flooded but, owner/engineer Chris Laybourne saw the storm coming and moved all the gear to a tempeeoray location. After much repair and months, the group is returning to the original location to finish the album.
Shout outs to Gitte & Henning of the Reggae Moods radio show for being the first radio to play a WEDEYA track anywhere in the world! Honorable mention should also go to the Reggae Sessions Radio show El Prat Radio in Spain as well for your support.

WEDEYA is looking forward to our upcoming performance at MAPLEWOODSTOCK 2013. We have a special set of original material most of which have never been performed live before. The Festival is celebrating its 10th year and we want it to be very special.
The festival last Sat and Sunday, with WEDEYA taking the stage at 7pm Sunday July 14th sharp. Go to maplewoodstock.com for directions. Be sure to allow time for parking if you want to see a particular band at the event. And don't forget to sample the great food and drinks of the community. Kids will have play areas full of activity, and adults can still take in the music from the designated beer gardens.
So come on out to support Maplewoodstock, the community of Maplewood, NJ, and of course WEDEYA. We'll be looking to see if you show.
