Barry Morrison Talks About Performing Live

"Playing live is about breaking a sweat and feeling good. It's about a freedom you can't find anywhere else. The people want to hear the old songs and they want me to relive the past with them. Together, we become part of the whole experience. I like for the audience to be physically close to me and, that way, we're in it together. Now, to me, that's a live performance. Playing live is the only way to get that feeling; that connection. Performing is like a drug you need to survive and you're always looking for that next fix." Barry Morrison Interview 1990

Barry Morrison is Slowing Down But Still "Bringing It"

The other night, I watched Barry Morrison step onto the stage to do what he's done for going on to fifty years now. I can tell that age is catching up with him. Does he still command the stage? Hell yes! This old man can still "bring it" vocally. That signature baritone voice is as strong as ever. Having said that, how much longer he can physically stand up to the rigors of the road, is an entirely different matter. Hopefully, he has a few more years to do what he does best.

The Best Singer Nobody Knows?

He may very well be the best singer I've ever heard; and one that only a relatively small number of music fans know exists. Barry Morrison does what he does, many times alone, and with only his guitar. Forty-five years into an "on again" "off again" pieced-together music career, he soldiers on. There has always been a two-lane blacktop road with his name all over it, and a show to play somewhere at the end of that road. He's an old school troubadour. He plays music to believe in, and those of us who know his music, know how good it is. We believe in his music; and him.

Surviving As An Original

"Barry Morrison is a survivor; original and eclectic. His swampy version of country music is propelled by an outstanding baritone voice and a funky, always in the pocket, telecaster guitar."

ALL HE'LL NEVER BE (Portion of Some Great Lyrics)

Lyrics from Kentucky Songwriter Barry Morrison:

"With tobacco stained fingers He picks out magic on the strings Time sits still and listens To every song he sings"

A New Beginning for An Aging Country Singer

"The End of the Line" seems to be a new beginning for sixty-six year old country singer-songwriter Barry Morrison. Released in February 2013, the song is, arguably, the signature song of his career.

After Dark

In his day to day life, Barry Morrison comes across as a nice young man but, musically, he's a rule breaking bad-ass."

2015 House Concerts

I've become interested in developing a 2015 House Concert Series; performing anywhere in the continental United States. House concerts will provide a more intimate concert atmosphere for me as a performer and also the 20-25 people attending the house concert performance as well. It's all about the music! Anyone interested in hosting one of my "house concerts" in 2015, can contact me through ReverbNation, Facebook or my Facebook Band Page. I look forward to hearing from you!
