We are happy to report a solid performance we put on at Bertoki Blues night. Numerous crowd dug our blues enthusiastically though they were a bit surprised by the wide scope of the modern blues we presented. Thanks go also to our hosts, KD Samo, Bertoki: Thank you David, Andraz and all the kind people there. God Bless you!
Many thanks to organizing team at Hangar Bar, Izola, Slovenia including Grga, Matic and the rest of the staff. Our concert went well, audience was cool and what is the most important thing - they liked our Gumbo Blues. :D
As previously noted in the Update section, The Tzar Blues Band is playing at Izola Blues & Rock Fest on Aug 27, 2015. Blues combo will feature a splendid guitarist Leon Zunec.
JazZagorje 2014, Nov 7th, 2014 - Though our audience at Zagorje gig appeared a bit cold and unresponsive at first, we managed to warm them in the second part of the program. After an usual insert of SRV Tribute with related instrumental, they began to applaud loudly and loudly. Finally, we got to the encore, where we offered my own Voodoo Momma swamp blues and Robert Cray's classic Playin' In The Dirt. All in all, solidly done.
Remember this guitar ace: Maurizio Pugno. It's no wonder why Mark DuFresne (ex. Roomful of Blues, etc.) and Sugar Ray Norcia (ex. Ronnie Earl, Roomful of Blues, etc.) recorded with him. He is master of tone and an excellent blues player. I wish I could perform and record with him onboard sometime. :D
Check out this: Bobby Mack CD called Texas Guitar (Highway Man). A song called Doin' Alright succeeded in gettin' my blood burbling again. It's good to hear Bobby Doin' Alright. 5/5
A blues guitarist wanted for The Tzar Blues Band (Ljubljana, Slovenia). A new member should be proficient in various blues-roots substyles (East/West Coast swing blues, Texas shuffle, Louisiana rhumba blues, etc..). Adequate experience is essential. Woah! I got something good on my ears. And that is a superb blues guitarist named Chuck Hall from Arizona, USA. I fancy his guitar playin' approach very much. A lot of Texas blues can be heard in his playing and Chuck usually does not overplay. Texas blues shuffle is one of his favorite blues styles and he plays it with swagger and a good taste. If I would be asked to describe him I would say: a much sharper Jimmie Lee (Vaughan) with some of the virtuosity of Stevie Ray (Vaughan).
Hey, I am watchin' this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORFmAZOqxq0 and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on5iS1UU5OU. Yeah, Solid Senders from Austin, TX. What a band!!! Got their two CDs. 6 stars of 5! ;)
Two suggestions for blueslovers: 1/ New LIVE CD from Rick Estrin & The Nightcats called: You asked for it ...Live! It's a funny, witty and amusing collection of songs, this time with Kid Andersen on guitar. And 2/ B.B. and the Blues Shacks - Businessmen - a terrific blues combo from Germany swings and honks like mad with some well arranged horn charts. Have a fine listening and enjoy!
