Shazanimal, a rock band from Minneapolis, MN, USA, recently played their first show ever to a packed house on November, 20th, 2012. The band consists of Geoff Seper (drums), Jeff Potter (bass, guitar), Eric Barsness (vocals) and Mat Knutson (guitar). Shazanimal was almost the “greatest band that never played.” The band encountered and overcame numerous set-backs, false starts, shiny objects, and severed fingers. An amazing story, the band has already been approached for a "Behind the Music," various book deals, and a feature length film starring Iggy Pop as Eric Barsness. The band's music is often described as "interesting." Interpretations vary. Their sound is difficult to nail down, but influences include The Cult, The Clash, Iggy Pop, New Order, AC DC, and Ghostland Observatory. Their first single, “Face Eater” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72rB56un8do) received critical acclaim from…every member in the band. Known as “Shafanimals,” Shazanimal's fans are voracious for the band’s music. It is not uncommon for a Shafanimal to follow the band from show to…well, wherever their second show is. After the band's inaugural show, Facebook shut down the band's Facebook page due to the volume of traffic (needs citation). The band lives for its fans and whenever possible attempts involve them in the band's day-to-day decisions and activities. The band may be most well known for its fanatical approach to PR. Going well beyond typical t-shirts, the band created the cologne “Shakar Noir,” developed a line of cleaning products named “SHAZANTASTIC!,” and even founded the non-profit religious organization “WWSD.” You can find out more about the band at http://www.facebook.com/Shazanimal Those who know, know. Those who don’t, will.
