After the storm...

Late October and the fiercest storm for a decade gathered across Britain.

St Jude’s Day’ storm raged as four guys took to small Sussex studio to record a whirlwind of sound.

The Storm Poets went on to play three shows before line-up changes and the international success of Farmageddon - the book that inspired the songs - got in the way.

Now the dust has settled, these tracks can be shared... after the storm.

After the storm...

Been working hard in the studio in recent weeks laying down the vocals for our forthcoming EP of session stuff... Will keep you posted Stay safe PJ

One Guitar

So this year has been filled with a 40-date international speaking tour in support of PJ Lymbery's book, Farmageddon. But here's a new recording; it's our version of the classic Willie Nile song, One Guitar.... available for free download. http://www.reverbnation.com/stormpoets/song/21645775-one-guitar Stay out of the storm... After the storm

As the year draws to a close, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past year. It's been a blast!

Songwriting has been developing in new and exciting directions over the past twelve months and I'm looking forward to getting some of the new tunes recorded to share with you. Songs written whilst on the road in the USA, reflections from moments in Mexico, and life-stories that we're keen to share.

So, I'm looking forward to bringing our new sounds into the light in the New Year. In the meantime, again, thank you for being with us, and see you down the road in 2014.

The Storm Poets

Storm Poets are GO!!!

We had such a great night launching the band on Saturday! Thanks so much to all who came out to see us play. Special thanks to Jeff at Ye Old House at Home, Worthing for hosting us and sending round the free cockails on the night! And to Richard Feltham for photos, sound and support; much obliged.

We started the night with a solo set by PJ, then Andy joined for some duo stuff, before the full band kicked in and took the night away.

We were pleased to be asked back by the venue on the night; thanks to all who gave such positive comments across the bar. Look forward to announcing a return date this side of Christmas...

Thanks for all your support. Keep on strumming...

New name!

Announcing our new name - The Storm Poets - and with a new line-up; full profile coming soon. Stay tuned!

PJ The Storm Poets (formerly The Passion Poets)

It's been quite a weekend! Four gigs over the three days, including to several hundred sun-soaked carnival goers in Farnham.

The Sunday saw me playing a solo acoustic set on a farm open-day outside Horsham. I was given the privilege of leading the finale - a rendition of Willie Nile's brilliant One Guitar with no less than six guitarists, drums and a double bass! Some sort of record, certainly for me, as this closing cover has come to be something of a signature for my live sets.

Sunday evening saw a brilliant line-up of musicians in Horsham's Anchor pub in the town centre. I really enjoyed the opportunity to step on to the same stage of give it my all! My friend and Horsham legend, Mike Whiteley, joined me for the last number - showing me how my new 12-string should be played!

The evening saw some stunning performances, not least from local bands, Singfield and The Avengers - the latter bringing the house down with a blistering set. The night was rounded off by a guest slot from the bass player from 80s hit band, The Cutting Crew. And so ended a great night and a memorable weekend.

So onward to our next rehearsal as a band and looking forward to taking to the stage with a new line-up; all to be revealed...

Until then, stay safe, stay passionate.

Debut video goes live!

Exciting news! We've just released our first music video ahead of gigs in Horsham and Farnham. The video to their track, Deserts of green, was shot on location in Argentina and East Meon, Hampshire. Shots of the rolling hills of the South Downs are interspersed with horse-riding gauchos and scenes from La Pampas.

We wanted to connect our local area with the bigger world; our songs are inspired by the hills around us, the people that make up our communities and the experiences we soak up when travelling. We wanted to make a video that reflected that.

The video was produced by The Red Red (www.theredred.com), an Eastleigh-based company specialising in music videos along the south coast.

Lay with me

Thrilled to finish writing a new song, Lay with me!

It's not that I particularly like lengthy plane rides, but I do find there's nothing like 'em for concentrating the mind on a lyric and a melody.

It happened this last week when I flew to New York. The subsequent road trip saw me traversing the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia in just a few days. But it helped to hone the song.

And it's not the first time songs have come along during travel; 'Shadows' was written on the way back from Shanghai; 'Deserts of Green' during a sky-scraping hop between Argentina and Peru; 'Warm Rain' whilst snow-bound in Wisconsin.

So I always look forward to travel. Not just for new experiences and broadening the mind, but for songwriting opportunities and inspiration.

We're looking forward to playing new tunes for ya soon!

In the meantime, thanks for all your support.

Stay safe, stay passionate

Warm Rain at last!!!

After weeks of unseasonal cold, the weather has finally broken and Warm Rain is released across the land!

After 18 months of blood, sweat and tears, our five-track EP is finally launched. It reflects both a musical and songwriting journey. The title track was penned whilst snow-bound in Wisconsin, USA; hence the lyric. Shadows started life as a brooding idea for a track on a long plane-ride from Shanghai. An evening spent with dispossessed people in Argentina inspired Deserts of Green.

We're delighted to finally get them off the multi-track and onto silver discs!

Hope you'll come with us on the next journey...
