The recording of The Touch took six years from start to finish. However, this project actually started when I first heard music that was coming out of St. Louis and Memphis as a young child. Elvis, Little Richard, and Ike Turner were all artists that I had access to in the late 1950’s around the time when southern radio stations began playing “race” music late at night. I was 7 years old when I bought my first record and wore it out playing it on a record player that had the speaker directly connected to the replaceable needle on the arm of the player. That record was Elvis’ first RCA recording that I bought several weeks after it was released (“I, I, I want you, I need you, I, I love you…”). From that point on, I was hooked. I decided at seven years of age, I would make a record some day. And I did 40 years later!
