The Last Two Months

I purposely left the months of these 'last two months' blank because I wanted to simply speak on the challenges and up hill climb it has been. I believe them being overshadowed by 'well, that was three or four months ago' would have simply clouded the point. It has been draining to say the least. I have worked with endless effort on my music and it seems like the closer I get to the light at the end of the tunnel, the further away it seems. I strive to only one day be able to step out on a stage and perform in front of those whom have supported me in this journey so far. Unfortunately, no matter how much I jump up and down, move left and right, sing the wrong song on purpose, just to be seen, A&Rs have just not noticed. However, to give up with certainly be the wrong thing to do. To give in, with be so easy but just not who I am. I have received positive and negative critiques from critics, but it is what makes me who I am. It is what makes us all who we are. It is not the journey that is important but the path you choose. Thus, as I round out this page of song lyrics transitioning into the next, I hope you find truth in the next few statements. NO matter how challenging it gets, it will get worse. No matter how much more difficult it gets after that, you are never truly walking the path alone. When you think you are walking the path alone know there is someone always with you---even if they are way in the back, jumping up and down, moving left to right, yearning to show you that they are there. This journey is meant for you to succeed. Somehow, someway, you will.

Progress through Ambition

I often find that we as artist work day in and out to make it. Even in doing so, our efforts sometimes go unnoticed. Yet, we awake the next morning with vocal chords liquified, tunes in mind, and pages of lyrics in hand. It is this thing which we call progress. Through such progress our ambitions to make it are renewed. Even for one more day, we convince ourselves one day we will be in front of thousands sharing our inner most emotions to the world. It is in these moments where conceptual thought meets practice. Where practice meets expectation, and where expectations turns into implementation. Our moments in history have yet to come to fruition, but certainly, with each conceptual thought, practice, design, and implementation, those that contemplate playing the game of risk with you too, shall be convinced. Keep going my musical friends. Where the heart takes you, write it and share it with the world.

I took a slight hiatus the last year to complete my Ph.D to which I would not be the person I am today without. Music to me is my lifeline; it is my DNA and a portion of the elements breathing life into me. I often tell people to elevate their expectations by exceeding their limitations in life and in love. I now find myself on a new path of music with many more songs to write, record and share. I don't want to take this moment for granted, but I also don't want to rush the possibility of just being. Moments like these are a rarity. I hope you find the courage to open up just a bit more to allow yourself to be vulnerable this year; not in fear of making a mistake but in hopes of experiencing something overwhelmingly enjoyable. The rest may not be promised and dare I say an unknown to us all. However, allow the 'here and now' to subsume you and provide thought-provoking memories exceeding the decades to come. Happy Saturday.

Writing the Song Angel

Whenever I write a new song i try to immerse myself into the story behind the lyrics. I often get lost in the emotional context of what I am singing and writing that it can be quite overwhelming. With Angel it is the lyrics about a guy who lost his one true love. The lover inside his soul refuses to let go, while the hate of lost in his mind keeps trying to take control. The lyrics "I promise to never grow old, but it seems I'm running out of time" is him battling with life coming closer to the realization that she is in fact truly gone. So in an effort to come to realization about whether she is really still here or in fact gone, he decides to share his story with the world and let them decide for him. All throughout the song he continues to believe she is real as the bond they shared was so powerful that he couldn't let go. Not to spoil it-but the next song "Dreams" expounds further on this song and highlights the decision he is finally faced with making. Whether to believe the world that she is in fact gone- or live in a dream where he believes she is as real the air he breathes. Stay Tuned for Dreams!

Night's Like This

This song does it to me each time I play it. Whether it be heartache, sadness, life in general, there are times when you sit and reflect upon that one person that you would have given it all to and now...well they are no more. It's lyrics are of past, present, and future. Take a listen, absorb, and reflect..Nights Like This....Kier

Reflection of "My Story"

The music of life makes us whole. Our experiences, those good and bad, makes for stories that should be and at times difficult to be told. Although we walk along paths where only us and the air we breathe are the in taker of the scene before you, it is well within us to make music that press against those boundaries in an effort create new paths that intersect with many genres of music. This is not only my story I speak of, but so many whose voice has gotten lost in translation and whose memories forgotten. This day, this time, marks the beginning of what is to come. You are the author of your own destiny...how will you shape it.
