Dubterraneans / Blog

Come see our early Saturday evening show!

The Dubterraneans (http://dubterraneans.com/) are playing at The Toad Tavern (http://www.toadtavern.com/) on Saturday February 16th at an early 8:30PM. We will be playing for 50 minutes and will be able to add some more songs to our set than what we played last time.

Make Obsolete

There is more suffering and violence in the world now than has ever existed in the past. Cumulatively. Anyone who tells you different ignores some basic realities.

1. There are more people a live right now, than have ever existed throughout all of human history combined. That is the total sum of all people that have ever been born and died is less than the number that are alive right now. 2. While 1 billion of these people are over fed and live in a relatively peaceful dis-topic relative paradise, there are over 1 billion people who are starving to death. Of those 1 billion 35 THOUSAND 5-year-olds or younger DIE EVERY DAY. There are 1 billion starving people right now. Many of them are not just starving but running from conflict. 3. Starvation and repressive regimes are forms of violence. There are probably 3 billion people inside of this domain of suffering and violence.

The USA produces enough grain to feed 2 billion people. But none of that grain feeds people at all, it all goes to animal feed.

I have an idea. Why don't we take ½ of that 2 billion people's worth of grain and use it to feed the 1 billion starving people in the world? Yes the price of animal products will go up. This is good! Why is this good?! Here are some reasons.

1. Eating less animal product is good for you. 2. Producing less animal product is good for the environment that sustains you. 3. Paying more for your meat, milk, eggs and cheese can remind you of how you are part of the solution that humanity has used to finally eliminate world hunger.

I wrote this song when I realized that we needed to get all Star Trek up in here (here = Planet Earth)

Make Obsolete

Chorus: Part1: We need to make obsolete. Part2: The money system is slavery.

Verse I: Money is not scarce, for a few fortunate souls. Many toil decades! Scarcity values, Kimberly burning diamonds!? Thirty four thousand, five and younger died! Yesterday and today and, tomorrow foodless. . .

Chorus: Part1: We need to make obsolete. Part2: The money system is slavery.

Spoken Facts: The United Nations world food program and the National Association for the prevention of starvation estimate that “Every day 34,000 Children under five die of hunger or preventable diseases resulting from hunger”.

Chorus: Part1: We need to make obsolete. Part2: The money system is slavery.

Verse II: Our world, a sick game. A game of musical chairs. What if there’s no chair?! In the banking game, instead of music, money, no chair, no shelter. Should shit hit the fan, I'd want a good backup plan, and help fellow man.

Chorus: Part1: We need to make obsolete. Part2: The money system is slavery.
