Winter Update

Hey everybody. It’s been a while since we’ve done a blog post so we figured it was about time to update you guys on what’s been going down with us. Over winter break we kept ourselves pretty busy with making news songs, practicing our set list, and the ever tedious melody writing. We were able to add 2 completed songs to our catalog, with 2 more in the works. We’re also working on a handful of covers to mix in with all our original stuff which we’re pretty excited about. Another thing we’re pretty pumped about is Andrew’s new loop pedal. He is becoming a master with that thing and we are excited to add that to our bag of tricks. Mainly because all the others are card tricks…stay tuned for a video to be posted later…

Nah, fuck card tricks. As far as putting new music out goes we have some bad news… Our mixer broke about half way through break and we were unable to fix it. We ended up ordering a new one from M-Audio only to discover that they packaged it with a power cable that didn’t fit on the mixer…Sweet. After numerous trips to Radio shack and Mirco-center looking for the elusive power cable we needed, we were told that retail outlets don’t sell them…Perfect. We were able to find a company who sold them online and ordered it with overnight shipping! But, it didn’t show up the next day. Or the next day. Or any day after that. It still has yet to arrive...Clutch. So with break being over, we were unable to record any new music. We were pretty down in the proverbial dumps (real dumps are gross) but once we get that cable we will be good to go! In the meantime we still have a few songs that we haven’t released yet that are almost ready to see the light of day, so look out for updates.

As always, thanks to everyone who has been listening, you guys rock!

Thanksgiving Break Update

Over Thanksgiving break we got shit DONE.

After enjoying some turkey eating, beer drinking festivities on Thanksgiving we got down to business. We didn’t get a chance to jam at all or record any new music but it some ways this may have been our most productive break ever. As we’ve mentioned in past blog posts, we’re in the process of lining up some live shows for this coming winter. In order to that we decided to hit up some bars and scope out some venues.

With Demos in hand and band bios in pocket, we headed out. We got some really good response from some bars outside of Philadelphia and some bars in Ardmore. We also got an old man who was not having it at all. He straight lied to us that he’d give our music a listen just to get us to leave…I mean I know Andrew’s mustache and all 5’ 8” of Kevin are terrifying but you could’ve just said no. Regardless…the positive response was really encouraging. There was even talk that we may get paid at some places which was WAY beyond our expectations. We were just hoping to play for free, but hey, not gonna complain about a little extra money if it rolls our way. Even with Andrew and Kevin heading back to school the venue patrolling is not over. Kevin is gonna be sending out some demos to a few places in Delaware with the hopes that the response is just as positive as it was in Philly (minus that dude who lied…ignore him).

With all that out of the way, the next few weeks are gonna be pretty simple for us. We’ll be gathering up all the music we’ve written and picking what we want to work on over winter break, getting all our gear ready to record and planning out our set list for live shows in the (hopefully very near) future. We’ll also be waiting for responses from venues. We’ll post information about live shows as we get it so hopefully you can come out and rock out with us.

In other news: Andrew has been working on making some merchandise for us to have and to potentially sell at shows. We already have stickers (check out our twitter for a sweet pic of them) and are also working on t-shirts. If anyone wants some stickers or a t-shirt or anything else they can think of feel free to contact us on Facebook, Twitter or even on Reverb. We’d be glad to send some merch your way.

Before we wrap up this update, we just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the support. Your support makes making music even more fun and exciting. Thanks for everything and don’t forget to tell your friends! You guys rule.

Quick update everybody

So the past few weeks have been pretty sweet for us. We got to jam early in October and were able to come up with a kick ass new song. We still have to nail down a part or two but it’s really close to being ready to record. We’ve got at least 10 more songs that we’ll be starting to develop later in the winter and hopefully they will all be recorded by January. In the mean time, the writing process is continues. Vocal melodies are our main focus but they are proving to be a total pain in the ass…we hate them. But they’re getting there so we’re feeling good. We’re also trying to line up some shows in December and January so if you are around the Philly area we’d love to see you at a show. We’ll post more information when we get it.

And finally, thanks to everyone who has liked our page and has been getting the word out about us. We really appreciate.

New Stuff On The Way

So we finally got “Berlin” put up. After Andrew spent hours messing around with computer stuff, he finally figured out the problem and got that shit up on the onlines. Besides that exciting little technical difficulty, the past month has been pretty low key for us. We’ve just been doing a lot of writing. Andrew’s been working on singing and writing songs that are longer than what we normally go for. Kevin’s been working on writing some fast tempo songs and editing some old stuff he’s had for a while. We’re hoping to get most of these songs arranged and recorded by January so we can put them out for everyone.

BUT, you won’t have to wait till January to hear some new stuff from us (and the crowd goes wild!!!!!). We have a lot more updates coming soon that we’re pretty excited about. We still have 2 new songs to put out and a few more videos too.

Next week we’ll be reuniting at Global Festival in New York to see some kick ass bands play (Neil Young, The Black Keys, Foo Fighters). We won’t get any work done but it’ll still be awesome so we’re pretty pumped. More importantly, in two weeks we’ll be back in Philly. We’re gonna be showing each other our new songs and getting some rough recordings of them done. We may even make a new video, who knows…(we do. And we are. Get ready). Other than that, keep looking out for updates and .tell your friends. And thanks again to everyone who’s been checking us out, you guys/girls rule.

Technology:The Silent Killer

So, we put up "Berlin" and something was pretty funky with the sound quality. We've converted the file about 31 times and, although it sounds virtually perfect (I know we're the best band ever) on my computer, we cannot get the converted file to sound good. We haven't run into this problem ever in the passed so we're getting a little frustrated, silly robots. I'm sure this will be dealt with pretty quickly in this coming week and we'll have the song back out for your listening pleasure.

We have a pretty solid plan for the release of a couple more songs and we're really looking forward to putting those out for you guys. As we left Philly this summer we began the writing process again, it's been a while so we're both getting back into the swing of things. We're always looking for new stuff to cover so if you have an idea just put it on our Facebook wall and we'll give it a whirl.... Who knows if we like it enough you may even be able to get your own special "Live in the 'studio' recording" of the song you want.

As for now, we're both getting back into the swing of actually having to attend classes 'n junk. But fear not, we will be back together seeing some concerts in Philly for Kev's birthday in Rocktober. We're also making some pretty serious headway on a pretty fucking awesome surprise for you guys which we'll be unveiling early this winter. I'll give you a hint. It's bears. Literally everyone will be given a bear. No. But seriously it's not bears. Although it is bear related...

No it's not. But it is cool... Really cool.

Game plan

What up world?

We just wanted to keep our favorite fans in the loop with what’s going on in the world of Third Team. We are both off at college now, which is both good and bad. The bad news: we can’t record anything high quality while we’re away (frowny face). BUT the good news: A) we have a bunch of updates that we’re getting ready to put out and B) we are both getting started on writing new songs for the next release. Andrew has a few riffs he’s ready to bust out, a full song that he’s trying to figure out and is coming up with vocal melodies and lyrics for our song “Thanks”. Kevin has two new songs, a few old beats saved up and is trying to teach himself to play harmonica…we’ll see how that goes. Overall, things are looking good for us. We expect to have new songs coming out on Reverbnation/Facebook as we finish them and are hoping to put our first album up on Itunes within the next 12 months (buyitbuyitbuyit, we$just$want$your$money$).

WANT MORE EXCITING NEWS?!?!?! Then read this next paragraph:

We’re also about to begin the process of sending our songs out to a few labels. Even though it’s a nerve wracking process, we’re pretty excited about it. Kevin is working on some concepts for the album art. He’s struggling to come up with an image/concept that fits all the songs together as a whole. Since the songs were written so far apart there isn’t necessarily a theme or idea or emotion that connects all of them together. Maybe he should embrace that as a concept in itself…hmmmm… Andrew is working hard on a nifty surprise that shall grace the interwebs within the next couple months. We don’t want to say too much but we’re really excited (like shitting a brick excited) about it and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you. Arguably our most exciting update though is that we’re starting to book live shows! We’ll be trying to book at least one show around the end of December. Most likely it will be in the Philadelphia area/Philly suburbs so if you can come out we’d love to see you there. We’ve always thought we play WAY better live than during recording so, if you can, come out and watch us melt you’re face off with ROCK.

And finally, we just want to thank everyone who has liked us over these past few weeks. Seeing the support from you guys has been really exciting and fun and makes us even more excited to make music. It means a lot to us. As always, keep telling your friends about us and keep checking in on Twitter, Facebook and Reverbnation for updates!

Making Some Progress

Things in the studio are going pretty well, have 3 more songs that should be done by the end of the month and 2 or 3 more in the works (not ready to be recorded yet). This week we found ourselves trending on ReverbNation which was pretty cool to see and are in the process of creating our own website (we're super legit we know...) more details to come on that later. We're hoping to start sending the demo to some record labels in the next 2 to 3 months and hopefully people don't hate so much that they send us anthrax, not the band the drug (although either would be pretty scary... #terrorism yeah we know this isn't twitter #lawlerskates). Alright that was weird.

Thank you guys so much for following us and tell your friends to check us out, but only the good looking ones. We don't want any ugly fans. But seriously more fans would be fun, ugly or not (it's not like we're that good looking).

To summarize the ramblings of two individuals with crippling ADD. Should be three new tracks on the way. Back in the writing process and it's going pretty well. New website in the works with more details to come. Hopefully sending the demo to some labels within the next fiscal quarter (that's like 4 months and has literally nothing to do with when the next quarter ends [Sept 30?] Ramsey should know that...)

Love, Third Team

Welcoming Ourselves to the Intertubes...

So, we've been a band for 5 years now, making our own music for the past 3 and we figured it was about time to let some other people in on the awesomeness coming out of our basement. At the moment we have 2 songs recorded, one on this site already and another to come shortly (just needs a little sprucing up), and another 4 which we feel are ready for the public, all 14 of you (we know, we're huge), to hear.

We figured it would be pretty appropriate to let the fans know what's going on in our little band world. At the moment we are recording, finding time in between our respective jobs and other commitments to lay down our nasty funk. We're hoping to have everything recorded by the end of August and up on here by mid September, hopefully...

As it stands now we are in need of some more lyrics and vocal melodies and we are in the process of getting that sorted out, we auditioned a singer who we have known for a pretty long time last night. As lyrics make their way into the songs we'll repost them on the interhighway.

Not sure how frequently we'll be updating this blog thing but if you're looking for some more imediate Third Team action, hot off the presses (we promise), check us out on Twitter (www.twitter.com/ThirdTeam), Facebook (www.facebook.com/thirdteamband), YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/thirdteamband) videos will be posted here within a week, or send us an email with questions at thirdteamband@gmail.com

The End
