Yay! This is the last Saturday for this year that I have to work my day job! After this week I will have much more time to play music! FINALLY!!!!! Woot Woot!
Yes, I have a day job! And it is consuming my life at the moment - can you say accountant in an American tax season?! BUT, there is light at the end of this tunnel... and then I can start playing gigs again! YAY! Meanwhile... I enjoy connecting with all of you Wonderful Musician/Artists out there! Thank you all for being you! XOXO Gina Lee
Well, it's getting to be that time of year again.... my day job will take over until after April 15th. You guessed it! I am an accountant by day. Not bad, really, when you think about it. Means I can handle business and finances which is valuable to anyone in their own business - like the music business! I have some pans in the fire musically speaking - so who knows, this time next year I could be doing my music full time and no longer need my day job! Will keep you posted! Meanwhile... Rock On and I will see you all again, soon! XOXO Gina Lee
May the new year - 2015 - be a blessed year for all the inhabitants of Earth! Let there be Peace and Goodwill everywhere!
Greetings fellow musicians and fans! I just added "The Sister" which is a Christmas song I wrote that has been included on the "Christmas by the Lake Volume VIII" CD. This is a wonderful Christmas album by various local and national musicians and this is its eighth year of making a CD. All the musicians contributed their time and talents, with the sale proceeds going to charity. This CD's proceeds will go to The Bluebird Foundation, a not for profit organization that provides financial support in the form of scholarships to area youth involved in the arts, i.e., music, dance, artists, etc. This year's CD includes 26 songs from a wide variety of musicians and is for sale for $12. They can be purchased through "The Bluebird Foundation" and "Lundeen Productions." Enjoy!
So! I played the Radio Waves Music Festival in Grand Marais, MN, this year! What a BLAST! In the decades since I've been performing, this was my first festival and I really like it. Yay! If any of you are in Minnesota, be sure to check out the North Shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Marais and Thunder Bay! A breathtakingly beautiful area in the world and the music is fine! ;)
They say that approximately 10% of the world's population is creative - artists, musicians, etc. Let's say that is mostly true, that means that there is about 700,000,000 people who are artists of some sort and/or musicians. Can you wrap your head around that?! I recently read a blog by a musician here in the United States who says he thought he was at the saturation point of discovering that there were some 500,000 musicians here in the United States alone, all who are GOOD at what they do, who write original songs, original originals. Compared to the world... that is a drop in the bucket. Amazing, eh? :)
Hey! Does anyone remember "Maurice and the Cliches" from the 1980s? Yes! Rose was a back up singer for this group. Or THE woman who started the whole "unplugged" 'movement' in the Los Angeles area which led to MTV's Unplugged! Yes! That would be Rose Hoene! And we in the Duluth area are very lucky to have her as one of our very own. She is celebrating her fabulous Six Oh on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Clyde Iron in Duluth, MN, with a lots of local musicians lending their time and talents to making it a wonderful evening of music, food, drink and fun! Suggested donation of $10 with all proceeds going to the Bluebird Foundation and the Music Resource Center - both organizations to help young musicians with what they need! Come and join us if you are in the area! Thank you!
Greetings everyone! My gig at the Lighthouse at Emily's was a good time had by all! Now I will be out of the 'lime light' for a couple of months while I earn my keep at my day job as an accountant during tax season. Yikes! ;) But.. I'LL BE BACK and will see you all soon! Meanwhile... please give my music a listen. I hope you enjoy! Thanks! I appreciate all of you much! XO Gina Lee
My CD Release Party at Beaner's Central was a wonderful success! Good, solid turnout! Janie's Love Child opened - they were awesome! Young cellist, Dan Richards, accompanied me on 2 songs. FUN! Thank you everyone! Thank you Jason Wussow, for the fab venue!
