JOONBUG.com Show review 11.14.14 Maggie Gabbard, a singer/songwriter from Delaware, is set to take the pop music world by storm. Young, vivacious and eager to jump onto the scene, Maggie Gabbard is sure to be your new favorite. We had the chance to see her perform live at Pianos in the Lower East Side and we were nothing short of amazed. The intimate concert showcased Maggie’s incredible singing talents that ranged from poppy vocals on tracks like “Champagne and Starz” to more soulful tunes like “The Reason is Here." It was a great night of non-stop talent and not to mention it was also her 20th birthday the night of the show, although it could be forgotten that she is a mere 20 years old when you notice how well she commands the stage and everyone in the room's attention. After her performance we sat down to talk to Maggie about her inspirations, the future and new album Luminosity. Her influences mostly come mostly from her dad who has always brought music around here since a very young age. Maggie says, "I used to write poetry and my mom was actually the one who said I should turn the poems into songs". As far as inspiration for her music, Maggie tells us she can get inspired by almost anything, "I can just hear a beat and just think of a song to go with it". We asked her about her favorite artists out currently which she revealed was Toronto native PARTYNEXTDOOR and particularly his new song “Recognize” with Drake. So what’s next for Maggie? She’s practicing patience as she continues to let her music career unfold. With an EP and a new album already under her belt, this singer is certainly one to look out for. Don’t let her pop influenced music and young age fool you she is definitely not your average singer and is already displaying pure talent.
Oblivious Pop- Aug. 18. 2014 About two weeks ago we brought you Ayer's latest "Fight Your Fire" that racked in the help of some other favorites of ours which included the production work of Ian Walsh of Bel Heir. Today, we bring you another track Ian put his touch on with new pop superstar Maggie Gabbard. Maggie just released her album Luminosity featuring her moody hip hop track "The Reason Is Here". Pulling on all the extraterrestrial synths that shoot her beyond the stars, Maggie Gabbard twists in her own pop-perfected vocals with touches of middle-eastern melodies, all mixing together for one massive hit. It's a burner that throws ash into the air and ignites everything around it. Watch as Maggie lights up the sky with her star power in this track below.
There’s no shortage of leading ladies in electro pop, but trust us when we say we have a new one you need to know. Imagine a superhero blend of Banks‘ melancholy pop and Mandy Lee‘s beautifully raspy vocals and you’ll have an idea of what Maggie Gabbard sounds like. Get acclimated with the Kentucky native below and check out “The Reason Is Here,” a soulful new track featuring production credits from Bel Heir‘s Ian Walsh.
We love introducing you to new singers here at OnePopz and the latest pop starlet we’ve been impressed by is the stunning Maggie Gabbard! The 18 year old singer recently premiered her brand new single ‘The Reason Is Here’ and it’s effortlessly cool. Maggie’s soulful vocals power over some seriously infectious hip hop beats to create what’s easily one of our favourite tracks this year. We could definitely see it soaring up the charts at some point in the near future. So who is Maggie Gabbard? She was born in Kentucky and has been singing ever since a very young age. Maggie has always had an obsession with songwriting and she names Norah Jones, Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys as some of her biggest idols. Her father’s varied record collection also had a large influence on her music too. Whilst putting a new twist on the hip hop genre, we’d say that Maggie’s sound is somewhere between pop and R&B. It’s a perfect combination and follows in the success of Jhené Aiko who we’d say is quite similar in ways. ‘The Reason Is Here’ includes production credits from Bel Heir’s Ian Walsh and it’s already been added to many pop playlists. The song features on Maggie’s incredible debut album ‘Luminosity’ which is available for purchase now here on iTunes. It’s definitely worth checking out; there’s some absolutely fantastic tracks on there. Maggie’s first single from the record was ‘Freakshow’ and you can watch the official music video for that here. We reckon the song would have been perfect for the soundtrack of American Horror Story’s latest season.
