Biocomos - first anniversary.

It’s been a year since the start of the Biocomos project, and to celebrate the first anniversary we are returning to the city where it all began – London. Here on the Reverbnation page you can listen to the whole soundtrack or watch the movie: London: Symphony of a Metropolis:

Around the Sun - Scottish Borders

Di Lee has kindly offered the video for her wonderful track "Around the Sun". The video & photography was created by Donald Strachan. Donald's video shows us his part of the world - Greenlaw, in the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

Just noticed, Robin. If a year starts like that then it's going to be under a good star, right? Around the Sun is one of my favorite songs most definitely. Thanks to Di Lee, Donald any you. Great idea to present the video and song here. ~ kappi

Zupadupa party on the Biocosmos page!

Zed Misar recently moved to germany from LA, and with his track "zupadupa (lübeck mix)" he brings a song about an alien who comes to Germany from America. This mix begins & ends with the electronically tweaked sounds of the cathedral bells of St. Mary's church (or the Marienkirche) in old town Lübeck, the sound of the city.

You can read the full story to Zed’s song within his blog here: http://www.friendburst.com/blog/99232/zupadupa/

Welcome aboard Zed!

Second time listening here ... truly getting a kick out of the Zed Zounds. Fantastic.

Handing the torch to Brazil.

Such a sweet irony that after our brief stop at London (former home of the 2012 Olympic Games) that we should now hand over to the Games next host: Brazil.

Olaf is a fantastically gifted multi-instrumentalist from Petrolina Brazil. Olaf combines digital instruments with guitar and bass to create wonderfully melodic rhythms, the resulting music is utterly absorbing and uplifting.

We are showcasing Olaf’s Rainforest Video, it’s a fantastic addition to our Biocosmos video gallery. In this video the the music has 4 movements, First, the Baião (from the poor and desertic northeast region of Brazil), second, the Capoeira (a rhythm/dance/martial art brought to Brazil by african slaves in 1500 to Salvador/Bahia), the third, a Tribal rhythm of Amazon, and fourth, the Samba (with Carnival pics in Rio de Janeiro). In the end, Olfa presents a protest against the BURNING OF THE RAINFOREST, the indian chief "poisoned" by Coke and the little indian crying.

Thank you Olaf, and welcome to the Biocosmos crew.

Thanks so much to Robin and all Biocosmos Crew for the welcome.
I reaffirm here that I´m proud to be part of this amazing project, gathering musicians from so varied places and cultures in Earth.
Hope we can do inspired things together. Olaf from Brazil

Around the World ... in six months.

It’s been 6 months since I stopped working in London. I was determined to make my 10 month assignment more than a work drag, and in fact a worthwhile cultural experience. The idea had been to capture something about life within the city. I recorded street sounds, car traffic, police sirens, footsteps, underground trains, public announcements and people chatter. Also, I took many photographs of the places of interest I chanced across on my daily walk to and from the office. These sounds were them blended together with music to present an expression of London life in motion - it’s Biocosmos.

When I started this project I had no idea that it would not stop there. Since then, my friends from Reverbnation have offered amazing glimpses of their own environments, life in the places they live, or have visited. The Biocosmos project has taken us from the streets of London, to the coastlines of California (Yani), the historical heritage and present of Guelph, Canada (Mike), on a crowd shifting wander up 5th Ave, Manhattan, New York (Howard), on a humorous and cultural walk through the lovely city of Dusseldorf, Germany (kappi), we witnessed young children being taught to sing a devotional song in India, whilst stopping by to take in TV culture (Sunay), we’ve watched beautiful Venice awaken and pulse with life (David), more recently, we were offered a fascinating view of the people of Ramingining, Northern Australia (Laury & Armin).

So, it is that we return back to were we started. A new film - LONDON: Symphony of a Metropolis - using footage very kindly provided by HQMEDIA, with the soundtrack of the original Biocosmos London tracks as it’s narration:

We find the city just as we left her, busy, non-stop, night becomes day - day becomes night. However, it’s only a short stay here, to gather our thoughts on where we have been, and wonder where we may go next...?

Cheers Robin.

The London movie and blog being kind of final episode of your time in London and then again being the starting point of Biocosmos. That makes sense and perfectly relates to your last lines here about the ever evolving night and day, come and go. Thanks for this blog, Robin, and setting up the biocosmos. ~ k.

kloudworks  (almost 5 years ago)

A journey, a trip! Wonderful Venice impressions. All seems to be kind of random first and then nothing does and David's work turns to a thoughtful composition of sound, light, color, motion.

Pure golden magic... welcome aboard, David...

New video Eulogy - by Mike Jurgaitis.

A fabulous artistic and insightful video from Mike. Our fragile planet is shown, teeming with Life. Noticeably, mankind is omitted, to empathise that WE are not the only precious creatures to inhabit Earth.
