Holidays just around the corner

Alright, so school's just begun, the days are still mild, but we're already thinking ahead to Christmas. I know, I know, what would possibly to cause us to skip past Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc, and land on thoughts of Christmas.

Well, our favorite cafe, Mentobe in downtown Farmington, was looking for entertainment for the next few months, and, as I've said before, we're just too busy to play for a bit, but, as luck would have it, Dawn finishes class in early December, Devon's marching band finishes up in November, and with openings available in mid-December at Mentobe, we couldn't resist booking a Christmas show.

What better way to spend a cold winter night (alright, technically very late fall), sipping on a warm beverage, and joining us for a Sentimental Christmas Show. A family band, playing old and new holiday favorites, at a time of year when thoughts turn to family and friends.

So, with that in mind, we're playing Saturday the 15th, from 7-9 pm. The following Saturday, Angel Brock is putting on another Christmas themed show. For an escape from the hustle and bustle, seems like Mentobe Cafe is the place to be this holiday season. We sure hope to see you all there.

Last gig of the summer season

It's been a busy few weeks. We've been playing out every Saturday for weeks now, and last night was the last one on the books for a bit. The Junction's a great venue in a newer location. Their renovations are nearly done, and their signage arrives soon, which should clear up some of the confusion surrounding finding it.

With the school year now in full swing, and all the activities that go along with it, we're stepping back from the stage for a bit, and taking care of the various demands on our time. That should hopefully include getting some video and audio up and posted in the next little while.

Once we're unpacked the space we have in mind for rehearsals and recording should be free, and we can get down to business. In the meantime, we'll be supporting local live music as we're able. There's some amazing shows coming up, with great local soloists, duets, and groups. Additionally, Trace Bundy's coming to town, and we HAVE TO catch his show in November. He may not be local, but he's live, and definitely worth the watching. Besides, it's at a local spot we love, the Trinity House Theater.

Between now and our next run of shows, we'll probably pop into some open mics, either as a whole group, or pieces of it. Stuart's likely to do a few solo shows over the winter as well.

Other than music, it's work, homework, school, and activities all around. You know, life stuff. :)

Till next time, have a great one,

Back to school, still gigging, and oh so busy

Well, with September comes classes for most of our family. The kids are hard at work at their schools, and Dawn continues her college education. Stuart's between programs at the moment, regrouping after his associates.

Despite school activities, church activities, and the like, we're still doing shows. We've played the first two Saturdays in September, and playing again this coming Saturday at The Junction, in Livonia. Additionally, Stuart's had a solo show last Wednesday at the Wayne Farmer's Market, so all in all, we've been busy.

Also, we're in the process of moving, which makes things just that little bit more chaotic. Some stuff's at the new house, other stuff hasn't made the trip yet, and all the while, we're back and forth constantly. It's a good thing the two houses are close together, or we'd never get done.

That being said, serious health issues appear to be behind us for the time being. Now we're back to battling colds, allergies, asthma, and the flu. Normal enough that I'm almost grateful.

Well, that's us at the moment, hectic, but enjoying shows while we've got them. Soon, we'll be through playing out for a bit, so that the kids can focus on school work, school bands, and the like, while we write more music, and finally sit down and record some of our songs. We'll keep you posted. :)
