Mastered songs files are back from Splendour Mastering! Max did a fantastic job, now I've got to finish up all the little detailed stuff - album jacket design, liner notes, copyrights, song registering ....
In the meantime, practice today for next weekend's Beatles-theme benefit at the UUCM in Marblehead where 'Scrambled Eggs (me, Grady Moats, Kevin Wall & Lin Sprague) will be doing a trio of George Harrison-penned songs, then leading all the performers and audience in a sing-along Hey Jude. This annual show benefits the church and the local school music programs, so its a worthy cause. Past performers have included Greg Hawkes & his ukelele band, Kat Quinn, Sara Blacker and many others - its always a great show and a fun time for all.

Someone came to one of the music forums I'm on a couple of months ago, telling us about this website and their 'contest'.
First they asked people to submit lyrics for a song, then asked people to vote for the best of the 'top 3'.
Then they asked people to write music (and perform) the song with those lyrics.
So I took a look, and first thing I noticed that the lyrics had a bad rhythmical structure. I asked if I could do some changes, but they said minor ones only, so I went ahead and recorded/videoed a song.
Go here: http://www.thelyricalchallenge.com/listen-to-songs.html to see/hear my entry, as well as the other two. If you want to vote, it makes you install a Facebook ap (you can always delete the ap later)

15 songs are currently being worked on by Max at Splendour Mastering. Meanwhile, I'm finishing up the cover art and already working on some songs for CD #3!

While production work finishes up on my next CD, I'm back in the studio, reviving a song I started in the 80s, an anthem to Boston titled 'Boston Beckoning'.

I'll be playing the annual Beatles benefit-theme show at the Me & Thee Coffee House in Marblehead June 15 with a bunch of old friends (3rd year in a row for 'The Scrambled Eggs'). This show benefits the coffee house and local school music programs - plan on attending, always a fun time!

Ok, got my song list for the next album down to 15 'keepers' (I think)! Now it's time to tweak the mixes a little more (see if I need to retrack anything), then send them off to be mastered. :)

Keeping busy doing open mics while I search for a music partner/band. This week at the Clarion in Wakefield on Thursday. Started tracking the last new song for my next CD:
"Believe"
If you believe in me, I will believe in you;
There's nothing that together, we can't do;
If I believe in you, will you believe in me?
There's nothing to keep us from being free.

After shoveling snow, there's not much to do except stay inside and work on songs!
Did two open mics in Wakefield in the last few weeks and doing one in Chelmsford tomorrow (Friday, 2/22) - come on down to the Independence Bar and Grill for a fun time!

Video and MP3 on my players here at reverbnation: Pay It Forward. This song came to me one day when I was on my way home from work and I saw a guy on the side of the road with a sign that said 'stupid hippie, please help'. I went home, put some things together for him and his dog, and drove back and gave him a bag with some food for him and his dog. Hopefully it helped him out a little.
