Recording update:

Today was a very productive day working with Jon in the AM and then Tim in the afternoon. I used to lament not being able to find a drummer to do music with, and now I have the opportunity to work with two outstanding percussionists in the same band project. What an awesome way to spend a day.

Jon and I wrapped up one phase of our preproduction, and tomorrow we begin the next phase, which is mapping out the timpani and concert percussion parts for each song on the album. I have to admit, Jon is a soldier with an epic work ethic. He is playing I think at least 7 different percussion instruments on CEREMONIAL ABNEGATION: PART 1. I give him a lot of credit for putting in the time and effort to make this the best recording possible. Between the concert percussion and the hand percussion, he really shows what he is capable of on this album. Very happy with his work...

After the session with Jon, I met with Tim and we practiced for about 3 hours on the finale of CEREMONIAL ABNEGATION: PART 1, called "Twilight Has Come". This song is has a strong focus on the "ensemble" aspect of Markradonn, and will features the broadest array of alternative instrumentation. It is the longest, and most challenging of all the songs on our first album, and it is a life long dream to be able to create a song that expresses the wide range of emotions that encompass this concept.

Needless to say, Tim brought his A-game today, and really nailed the new parts we were working on.

With that said, all of the parts of every song (save one instrumental we are working on soon...) have all of the drums written, and most of the horn and ensemble arrangements are either finished or conceptualized. We plan on heading down to the studio again to finish the drums on the aforementioned song, and by the end of the month, all of the parts will be recorded, with the exception of all of my guitars. I plan on laying down my final guitar tracks once I have all of the other instruments recorded, just so I can have another perspective on the songs, and possibly add in a few last minute ideas.

So, yeah, this is taking a while, but only because we are going through each song, each part, and each arrangement with a fine toothed comb to make sure we don't leave anything on the proverbial table.

Next up: Horn and Brass Ensemble recording with Matt, Chris, Alex, and possibly some new cats to fill out the ensemble line up...

500 Plays for Final Dying Breath

Our first song with Timpani and Horns just reach 500 plays on ReverbNation.

What I find so interesting about this is that the production and sound quality are very amateurish do to the fact that I (Haniel) mixed it on the fly (bear in mind that I am still learning this stuff) and that the drum production was SO bad that it brought down the whole mix.

It was an experiment in using alternative instrumentation and in crossing genres, and we had no idea how the response would be, and if people would even give it a chance.

But 500 plays of this song, 199 of Frenzied Winter Sorrow, 200 video plays, and 2500 fans in 3 months with NO paid advertising or promotions is a pretty big deal. It shows us that perhaps Mrakradonn has a future, and that people may in fact be interested in what we have to offer the realm of metal and music.

So, to all of our supporters, *thank you*. If you are waiting to hear something new from us, please be patient. It will be worth it. What you heard is only the tip of the ice berg and we have some really interesting things in store in the very near future.

CEREMONIAL ABNEGATION PART 1 is coming.

Stay tuned....
